Re: "I Think They Are Missing A Trick" - Evercade Boss Says The Games Industry Is Failing Older Players

I'm 50. I remeber someone showing me a NES emulator and MAME in a computer lab in college (1999) and I could not beleive what I was seeing. How was this possible? I never looked back. Today I have basicly have everything on my PC from MSX to Naiomi arcade games. The availabilty and steady progression of FPGA devices and software emutalion makes it very easy for any old fart like me to jump in and enjoy the games from their youth. It takes a lot of tinkering and it gets bloody frustrating to get some games running to be fair though. The only device I need to get is and FPGA box. I don't think I'd ever buy an Evercade.

In comics, commercial illustration, and animation this is called swiping and it's been going on for over a hundred years. Without getting into the right and wrong of it, devs and artists are on tight deadlines. Swiping a character pose or tree or car parked on the side of the road saves time and money.
It's how most people first learn how to draw as kids but is no substitute for a strong foundation in art that gives you the skills to draw and paint anything or anyone from any angle.
I'd be very interested to hear what Evercade plans to do about this if anything.
A very dirtbaggy thing to do to another artist or person who thinks the game they are buying is legitimate.

Re: RetroAchievements Support Comes To MiSTer FPGA

New to Rertoachievements. Sounds very cool and the addition of FPGA systems should shake up the leaderboards. Question: Do you get notified if a friend gets a new acheivment or surpasses you like on Playstation? Achievements feel better when you slam dunk them in your friend's face.
