Neo-geo version will give you low-res 4:3 way of playing the game but no other exclusive features if they update the other versions as promised.

Claiming you didn't /quite/ make Q2 and you 'slipped a little' when you're already approaching the end of Q3 before getting any communication out the door is quite the understatement for a pre-order that was initially supposed to ship Q1 2024. Not answering any questions about it on social media isn't really a great show either.

I like the stuff you make but you're dropping the ball on communication guys. It takes 5 minutes to churn out a post saying you've hit a snag and it will unfortunately be delayed for x weeks or y months.

Nicalis may be horrible, but i do think people let Pelekanos off the hook a bit too easily. People pledged to Pelekanos' kickstarter, he collected the funds for it, and he choose to abandon it.

So, yes Nicalis may be scum, but so is Pelekanos.

Lol, "videogameesoterica" has been bombarding everyone on various forums with this years and years ago, to the point where it got annoying and he almost got his ass banned. The thing's a novelty sure, it's also useless with no software to run on it. What's next, endless babbling and stories about the HNG64 prototype cart? Throw that on the market for 5 figures. @The_Nintend_Pedant except it wasn't. It was nearly impossible to setup and calibrate the wiimote for "lightgun" use in such a way that looking through the barrel resulted in a cursor (shot) straight at the screen on all parts of the screen.

I eventually played it on the 360. Was it perfect? No. Things to critisize? Sure. But i still had fun playing this on a lazy sunday and definitely played a lot worse.

The sound was the biggest issue and this doesn't seem to have sound (yet?) either. Was anything mentioned about that? I don't have an account at Elon's nazi bar anymore so can't read there.

@Missingno128 RP2350B is about 1.50 a piece if i buy a single one as a consumer. Buying the thing in bulk is even far cheaper than that. What do you mean an fpga is far cheaper? Even if altera would give you fpga's for free you're saving next to nothing. And i'm not even factoring in your suggestion of paying someone to implement a chip in fpga.

That's definitely the case. You don't even really need to play it to see it if you look at the gameplay. The most glaring example for me being the way the enemies fly and bounce on the ground when hit. This isn't the smooth capcom or SoR type. Paprium is "just ok" but definitely not a very good game.

@SlangWon it probably is mostly, they are basically waiting for bugs coming out of the currentgen version they can patch in the megadrive rom before manufacturing and shipping out carts that cannot be patched anymore.

@Sketcz "rom" is a bit too generic of a term. Eprom or eeprom are also roms and so are maskroms while they are very different. I think all modern cartridges use some form of flashmemory nowadays. Physical != preservation.

Its a good and beautiful game, but the framerate is a bit of a bummer. With so many ways to play these games i kindof fail to see the use of these kind of ports, but if someone enjoys doing them i guess they should.

I tend to think people are overthinking stuff like this. Plug in whatever you have, turn on your console and you'll have a blast.

How was that different for those that didn't have the physical version but played it on an ODE ?

The actual Sanwa parts are 50, so that's a very expensive box to put the parts in. I get there is some electronics involved for the various systems etc, but 450 really is a mental price for a box and some artwork.

Nothing wrong with the retrotink but it doesn't hurt to do some research and consider the pixelfx morph and OSSC pro. I guess if you're in the market for a scaler you're already well aware of the options.

A dump/emulated version would be best, as it usually is. Even if you do have the game its not unusual for the chip in the cart to become detached leaving you with a cartridge that does nothing apart from rattle as you shake it.

I'm a bit skeptical at making so many different versions at once, there is no way he can focus on all these at once.

@jesse_dylan Well it does have built-in bluetooth. You could also connect one of those 8bitdo psx-shaped receivers. In short you don't even need to touch the psx controller or memorycard ports but they are there.
To me this is a very neat tidy way to run a mister setup. To get everything that's here with my mister stack i have a huge stack of boards for io, usb, analog output, snac etc and still have a bunch of wires stick out for NFC and something else i'm forgetting.

Since the last update the definitive edition is pretty solid, i happened to play through vice city over xmas on the switch and it was a better experience than the PS2 original provides imho.

Did you check the Doom port running on it? My 486 probably had a similar framerate.

The fact that a beefed up a1200 doesn't quite run something that a proverbial toaster has no issues with really shows how much processing power has increased over the years (and continues to baffle me)

The moment it went mainstream and the talk went over to "investment" and "deals" is the moment i lost interest and switched over to flashcarts for gaming. Something was lost along the way when money came involved in what is currently called "retro gaming" and i'm not joining for the ride.

I think i prefer Gearbox (you know, an actual developer) having the rights over giving a voiceactor (with i presume zero actually development skills/experience) a truckload of money for said rights.
What's he going to do with it, other than instantly open a second kickstarter?

@RetroGames This release has absolutely nothing to do with supporting homebrew developers with limited tooling and whatnot. This is a ~30 year old rom that's being put on a new flashchip (contrary to the old maskroms). Most of the effort here went in designing new packaging.
