Re: Talking Point: Is There Such A Thing As "Bad" Nostalgia?

Fighting_Game_Loser

Personally, I feel like there such a thing as "bad nostalgia," but its less in the form of what people enjoy, and more so people just using nostalgia like a buzz word for any old thing ever like its the only reason to check something out. Like I watch Spawn Wave a lot, and no offense to Jon, but my man says nostalgia way too much when talking about a lot remasters & rereleases, like him only really saying a NSO or PS Plus Premium month is good if a game is "nostalgic" from that era, just saying to check out a remaster or something because it's very "nostalgic." I just kinda groan when people say that because I feel like it makes old games sound like they have no value in going back to unless you have nostalgia for something, and that every little old thing needs to be nostalgic. Just kinda tires me hearing it, but that's just me.

Re: Yakuza Dev To Receive Excellence Award For Sega Model 2 / Model 3 Emulation

Fighting_Game_Loser

Honestly it's well deserved for Iizawa. I honestly wouldn't of gotten into Judgement and now want to try the whole Like A Dragon series if it wasn't for these games. Judgement was releasing in the US for the first time and I had seen articles that the game was going to include Motor Raid, and I got all giddy because of that one game (odd game to get crazy over I know but I had the chance to play an actual cabinet before and really liked the game but had never touches it since). I then asked for the game for christmas, and once I got it, the rest was history, and I found one of my new favorite games. All because of these emulations, and Motor Raid

Re: SNK Vs. Capcom's Promotional Artwork Has Been Censored To Cover Mai's Modesty

Fighting_Game_Loser

Literally would not of noticed if this article didn't exist, which honestly makes me wonder why people care that much lol. Athena, sure. She's literally one of the main secret characters they used in the trailer so it's weird to hide her, but literally you can't see Mai's cleavage that well anyways, so idk what the fuss is about when it's something so small for just the cover art

Re: The Challenge Of Teaching Game History In The Age Of Minecraft, Netflix And ChatGPT

Fighting_Game_Loser

Awesome article. As someone who is 18 themselves, I would KILL to have a class like this. Trying to dive deeper into the history of games was something I wanted to explore on my own time, and this class would of let me do it for college credit, while this current class of students don't even seem to care about the media as a whole even beyond the super mainstream titles? Just seems like a wasted opportunity to me from them. Hopefully this type of class keeps moving forward, and more people that are passionate about the history of games can help to pave a better path into understanding the history of games, and then understanding what they can take from those old titles to make something new.

Re: Gimmick! 2 Devs Issue Apology To Game's Original Creator

Fighting_Game_Loser

Idk why it isn't as much of a big deal. Sunsoft simply owns the IP and LRG/Embracer wanted to have BitWave make a sequel, so they just got the rights and just started making it. It's just ip business stuff and getting the creator isn't fully required. Of course it would of been cool if he got involved, but I have trust in BitWave from their output so I have lots of excitement for when this releases

Re: Evercade Alpha Is A Bartop Arcade System Packed With Capcom Games

Fighting_Game_Loser

This is a really cool product range, and I would say is arguably much more compelling than Arcade1Up's countercades. The Evercade cartridge support is a deal maker alone and the controller connectivity is a great feature, but I'm still kinda looking at the Arcade1Up countercades because some of those are much cheaper and have online support (mainly the Marvel Super Heroes cab) so I'm not 100% sure if I would want this more compared to something like and Evercade EXP. Still cool to see these being made though

Re: "Arcade Archives 2 Neo Geo" Will Bring SNK's Classics To PS5 And Xbox Series S/X

Fighting_Game_Loser

This is awesome to see. The only thing that made me disappointed with the ACA line all these years was the lack of online play, but now that they announced this, Hamster just continues to win me over. If these updated versions include rollback and crossplay for all of their titles with online multiplayer, I'm gonna be so happy and pick them up whenever I actually get a PS5 lol

Re: The Next Arcade Archives Game Marks 10 Years Of The Series, But It's A Secret

Fighting_Game_Loser

@Zeebor15 I didn't even think about that lol. That would make a lot of sense, but I do kinda hope that they make the 10th anniversary game something big for ACA for something like bigger 3D games. I think that would help to mark a big moment for ACA that they're going to go above and beyond now with even bigger arcade games, so that way it feels like every arcade game ever has a chance to get a release

Re: Boutique Video Game Record Label Ship To Shore Has Shut Down

Fighting_Game_Loser

Ah man, this sucks big time. I really loved their vinyls that I got a lot and still have a lot of their stuff I really want to pick up. I guess I maybe should of saw this in hindsight since the last time I checked their site everything was massively discounted for no reason. Hopefully I can still pick up the vinyls I want before they sell out forever.

Re: Interview: "A True Original" - Digital Eclipse On 'Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story'

Fighting_Game_Loser

Very good interview. As someone who like Chris says is only familiar with Minter from Tempest 2000 onwards, this collection of titles and story about Jeff just seems super interesting to me as someone who doesn't know his story and games, but see's something from the Konix Multivision getting included and get really excited. I can't wait to check out this title. I know its gonna be just as great as Atari 50

Re: Arcade Archives Officially Hits 400 Titles Released

Fighting_Game_Loser

Honestly over my years of getting more interested in nicher parts of gaming history, I've gained a huge respect for Hamster to try and keep the legacy of all of these arcade games easily available on modern platforms. Its crazy they've been able to keep up the weekly schedule they've had and I can't to see who else they might be able to work with because if we can start to finally go into the late 90's and 2000's more, it's gonna be amazing

Re: Teen Who "Beat" Tetris Told To "Go Outside And Get Some Fresh Air"

Fighting_Game_Loser

Look, I'm always down for people to go outside and touch grass, but come on man. Like how does Scuti's mom see his son just get a world record and get wide spread acclaim for it, just say "This is not an important moment because its just a video game and he needs to go outside," when he does go out and compete in classic Tetris tournaments, and also in the fact going outside is used for people who are simply complaining about every minute thing online, when Scuti obviously seem like a super nice dude

Re: Daytona USA 2 Is Finally Getting A Home Port, Thanks To Like A Dragon Gaiden

Fighting_Game_Loser

I honestly had no idea they even had Fighting Vipers 2 and the SG-1000 version of Flicky were coming in here as well! I must of missed the blurb in the original article. It's cool to see that we have good Model 3 emulation from Sega officially now, as well as seeing official SG-1000 games as well. RGG is so much better at preserving Sega's classic games than Sega is itself lol

Re: Strictly Limited Games Issues Statement On Lengthy Shipping Delays

Fighting_Game_Loser

It's nice to have a little bit of an update of what's going on, but the fact it only took them this long to respond after how long with new games needing to take even longer is ridiculous. I ordered the collectors edition of Dariusburst CS Core not know how bad the wait would truly be, as I thought that they were way better than LRG because their collectors editions were way cheaper and had better value. Little did I know that I would be getting this probably after I get my collectors editions of both Trip World DX and Gimmick Special Edition. This better start immediately or else I'm not buying from them until they get their actual copies fully on sale and not pre order

Re: Daytona USA 2 Is Finally Getting A Home Port, Thanks To Like A Dragon Gaiden

Fighting_Game_Loser

LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I have been wanting this to be ported for the longest time and thought it simply wouldn't happen. I'm so glad that they got it to all work out! I didn't even think of them using the Sega Racing Classic name to being it back! Hopefully with the fact that they brought it back and that they were able to do model 3 emulation, that Scud Race could come back next

Re: It's Time to Celebrate the PSP, Sony's 21st Century Walkman

Fighting_Game_Loser

I actually just happened to pick up a PSP 3000 just a couple a weeks ago and I'm having a great time with it so far. I always thought it was such a neat looking system that had a lot of awesome looking games that I feel like nobody talks about fondly in this day and age, while I honestly think they're far for intriguing to me than a lot of the PS2's line-up imo. It has so many cool big budget adventures and experinces, while also being a perfect system that had the ability to breed new experimental games.I haven't gotten much use yet out of its video and music features yet but I really want to because it would be neat to have a bunch of movies and Youtube videos I love at my finger tips. It's certainly a system I'm ready to explore and I'm glad Sony is bringing a lot of them back on PS4 and 5

Re: Shocking Study Reveals 87% Of Classic Games Are "Critically Endangered"

Fighting_Game_Loser

God this is so sad. The fact that so many games are under such a threat to be lost is such a unfortunate circumstance that I'm glad the world of gaming has the community that it does. Weither it's people taking the time and dedication to look for and dump roms, go and research the development behind games, people making videos to shed light on smaller games, and especially the people developing emulators to make sure these games can still be played by everyone, the video game community cares so much about it's history that it easily does more than the people and companies that made them

Re: Remembering Lucky & Wild, Namco's Arcade-Only Forgotten Classic

Fighting_Game_Loser

Oh hey, I remember playing one of these out in the wild! It was at a campground I went to with my family a few years ago. It was there along-side a Motor-Raid, I think another racing game, a DDR machine, and a deluxe House of the Dead cabinet. I really thought the mix of light gun shooter and racing game was very interesting. Would be cool if I got the chance to try it again if I ever see it

Re: Bitmap Books Pulls Mega Drive / Genesis 'Visual Compendium' After Legal Threat From Sega

Fighting_Game_Loser

Man, this sucks big time. I always wanted the Master System book and I just picked up their Amiga book for a good price (me being an American means that their books are pricer than I would hope), so it suck that their book got shut down. It's odd that Nintendo is ok with their books while Sega takes them down, because I bet everyone would believe it to be the other way around.
