Price is steep, enough for say the UK-made mister multisystem 2 fpga. But of course that’s not the point, and it has the authentic look and keyboard.

Does it switch anything up compared to the first two? I’ve only played some of the first but enjoyed what I played.

They should release it as a trilogy for consoles that haven’t gotten them yet.

@sdelfin that’s what was done on the NES Castlevania 2. The drums shared the same channel as sound effects.

The contra track sounds totally fine, but both Castlevania tracks eat.

I think RG stands for "Retro Game". The number (28, 34, 35) is actually the screen size in inches (2.8, 3.4, 3.5, 4.0). XX refers to the same chipset all the XX models share.

And then... SP is obvious... H for horizontal... and maybe that's it? Still doesn't make them roll off the tongue though.

That’s actually the anbernic rg34xxsp there, with the analog sticks. The rg35xxsp has a larger screen and no analog sticks, while the 34 has a perfect size screen for gba and (for some reason) analog sticks.

I sort of think the 35xxsp is better by far, and it can be had for about the same price.

If a person were only going to play GBA, the the 34 might be the one if you want or can ignore analog sticks (for your gba games??)

The music sounds cool, but it takes a lot of liberties, changing melodies and adding a double kick drum that wasn’t in the original. Not sure I dig that.

If he did an Ys soundtrack the game would be an instant buy for me…

I’d like to check it out! I’ve never been able to figure out how to get FDS emulators to work tho. When it comes time to swap the disk I get confused. I should educate myself.

I had no idea argonaut and natsume worked on any croc games. I… never played any of them… not on game boy or PlayStation.

What’s funny is, as a kid, the humor went completely over my head. I took the game 100% seriously.

Guess it’s sort of like how Japan took wizardry super seriously when it was supposed to be kind of silly.

Jebus. I’m not a limited run defender, but the constant chorus in every comment section gets old. Kinda throwing the baby out with the bath water if you want physical stuff. I haven’t bought a physical game in years, so I don’t care, but if not for limited run, no one else would be doing these things. They make mistakes, yep.

Great program that actually keeps things running, unlike console releases which get stuck on whatever console.

That said, I’d definitely buy this on console if they could put it out for $10-15

I want more retro style lucasfilm games. Thimbleweed Park was probably my favorite.

People drive up the cost of NES games that appear on AVGN, so why not a cheap re-release of this one? Sounds like the improvements maybe cause some issues tho…

@axelhander I’m scared too but some of it gets a little samey knee-jerky! Bethesda could announce 2005-era “radiant AI,” in all its 2006 janky glory, and it would be met with swears and “AI slop!” and insults.

@avcrypt Sure, but you're extrapolating if you mean replacing humans. Humans had to create Quake 2 so the AI could spend ages training on it, after all, then do... this. "Aiding" is the idea, at least at the moment.

Unfortunately, with the way "AAA" demands bigger and bigger budgets and more workers and longer dev cycles, in order to deliver better graphics, AI will be seen as the way to do it... sort of like outsourcing for clothing/etc manufacturing to meet demand and keep prices low.

This isn’t supposed to be a demo of game creation. It’s supposed to be a rough demo of AI frame generation. People are missing the point.

I still think Adventure should have won.

It’s really sad the way the internet is now used for group bullying when people feel they’re entitled because they didn’t get the first item off the assembly line or someone has blue hair or isn’t their gender.

Don’t forget the super Mario rpg soundtrack. Even without kingdom hearts at all, she came out of the gate with genius soundtracks.

I tried to like it back then (after being a little disappointed in some ways by ff7), and I just never could.

I’m holding out for the next mister batch that comes pre assembled. I actually kinda like their interface better too. But maybe I’ll end up having to wait so long I’ll get whatever comes after this instead.

It just seems like the mister pi is a little easier to run multiple cores on than the superstation.

I’d guess they’re probably going to be a publisher of other stuff as much as they are an acclaim ip revival house. They already published dead tomb on Xbox. I’d be happy with more stuff like that, solid fake retro stuff.

How do we know this is a new thing and that they didn’t do this 35 years ago too? It seems to be caused by heat, not age.
