Re: Sega Does What Nintendon't, Again - The Megaswitch HD Brings Digital-To-Digital HDMI To The Genesis

I still love my CRTs one year+ later! 😊✌️

does anyone else collect them for the different vibes? I really like my silver 24" wega and 27" sharp xflat (a really good wega clone, imo,) but i also have a 27" RCA entertainment series from the early 00s that is black, and has a big round domey screen, and theres just something about it that feels RIGHT, especially with an N64 hooked up with Svideo. 🥰 if my eyes could get a hug from a tv, this one would offer it.

Re: Mega Man VI Is The Latest NES Game To Receive A Fanmade SNES Port

@MoriyaMug

I agree! one of the most polished NES games I played as a kid, along with Kirby's Adventure and Mario 3. 👍

My favorite Megaman games are 3, 6, 7, 8, and X. Nothing wrong with 4 and 5 I just didnt play them very much if at all! 😅 and 2 is obviously great but it isn't special to me and if I just throw it in there I'm basically choosing every game in the series lol.

"I know I'm just some rando on the internet, but keep being you. I love most of your posts, and you seem like a pretty decent human being."

hey, I knew there was a nice reply that I forgot to get back to! and now I found you. ☺️ the positive feedback is much appreciated! especially coming from a veteran user who rarely comments 👍✌️ thanks, and I will do 🤠

tbh I was having the same thought @MysticWangForce (great handle lol) had:

my impression has always been that "Arcade Mode" in GT had slightly more "arcadey" physics and handling than the "Simulation Mode."

tbh though I loved Simulation Mode in GT1 and Arcade Mode seemed like 100 steps back at the time so I rarely tried it ✌️

(GT had that perfect learning curve, where 5 hours in you are doing things that felt impossible initially, with the same set of "tools." ❤️ I never cared about cars but this game amazed me as a teen.)

Re: Limited Run And Retro-Bit Under Fire For Using Recycled Chips In Shantae Advance

"Recycling such chips isn't a new thing; it's quite a common practice in China and can result in components being obtained for much lower COST than when buying new ones."

FTFY 👍

fwiw, "lower prices," in my opinion, makes it sound like they were assembling a budget game. what they actually saved was cost, increasing their profits while the (full) price (presumably) remained the same.

PS - because I always get pushback when I talk about "semantics:"

easy disagree but that's OK! 😂 imo Soma is a pale imitation: where Alucard is a fascinating and satisfying character, I forget I'm even playing as Soma and they just don't really move the needle for me. To each their own! ✌️ all the games are good, which is what's really important, but none of them grab me like SOTN did in its day, and still does when i return.

Re: Upcoming Saturn Tribute Reissue To Skip Xbox Due To "Provocative Expressions"

The_Nintendo_Expat

@MG4M3R

"This is a matter of semantics"

People always say that like it nullifies the argument.
I see the irony in what I'm saying, but given that semantics literally means "the meaning of words" yes, I am talking about semantics 👍

"A private company licensing and altering the content of a Japanese game to sell to a different audience in another country could be called cultural appropriation or some specific type of cultural vandalism."

to play devil's advocate for a sec (im not pro censorship) is it really appropriation or vandalism when the "private company" in question is essentially hired by the owners of the japanese game (to simplify things a bit) to localize and distribute it?

final point, and this is what ive been saying all along: two subtly distinct things or concepts can have the same word applied, and in culture and politics, subtext is hugely important. definitions of words get smeared, concepts get lumped together through misinformation and propaganda. my argument has been a lot more nuanced than "this is censorship, this isnt" but maybe that's already apparent. ✌️
