TBH I can easily get very excited about this thing in theory, but when I look at it I don't even want to touch it. it's just horrible. all-black wouldn't even fix it. it reminds me of electronic toys made for children in the 2010's.

ZSNES is my all-time favorite emulator, warts-and-all. just the word ZSNES gives me nostalgic feelings, particularly for certain games like Seiken Densetsu 3 and Harvest Moon. ❤️

I got my 8bd64 controller about a week ago, and I can't put it down! it's by far my most comfy controller, the buttons and triggers/bumpers are PERFECT, the dpad is very good, and the stick is the best I've ever used on any controller. I will be buying another. 👍

I got really into Sega rally 2 on dreamcast when I was a kid, and no other rally game has ever come close to capturing my attention like that since.

I've missed it, actually. I might try to check this out somehow even though I don't PC. ✌️👍

right media uses "leftist" and "lib" as derogatory terms, something that is only possible when you constantly propagandize against a group of people and train your audience that they are all "bad" by definition.

generally they aren't even accurately using the terms, just basically calling everyone they don't agree with a "commie." 🙄 from the outside it's all very obvious and silly frankly.

for the record, "leftists" actually generally use the term "progressive." ✌️

If the Tariffs would help a damn thing, I'd support them. they will not. it's just a way to raise taxes on the American people without having to say you are raising taxes on the American people, meanwhile allowing corporations and the very rich to continue getting away with murder. so, good, they aren't being allowed 👍

Incidentally I agree with @GrimLocke, there is no left in mainstream American politics, only a corporate party masquerading as "the left."

I noticed this and I was gonna bring it up. Nothing to add I guess except that they pretty much screwed up the entire project with this.

(also couldn't they have just used a slightly larger screen and then masked off the unused portions of the screen, kinda like a 2ds? there's something insanely wrong about playing asteroids on a 9:16 screen 😆)

I don't care about street fighter past Third Strike, and I don't have a lot of faith in projects like this.

why someone hasn't made a wonderswan clone handheld for "flipping to TATE" or even emulating ds in a pinch, (not to mention actual wonderswan games 😂 ) is beyond me.

even someone who has never heard of wonderswan could appreciate the appeal of that design 👍

we have some similar thoughts and dispositions regarding game controllers 👍

IMO, the N64 layout would work just as well for Sega games, and better, given that the buttons are easier (for me) to keep track of than the typical Sega layout (of which I actually am a fan, tbh, though it's a flawed concept imo, basically taking what works ergonomically for a "whole hand" and shrinking it down to one thumb)

I think the difference is, B + A are the primordial pair, impossible to forget, and the "diamond" shape is iconic, and memorable because they graft to cardinal directions, even being used in-game as directional controls sometimes. the two of them right next to each other gives me plenty of geometry and also muscle memory as it were to lean on, almost like a little "memory Palace" right there on the controller.

PS - I played through Diablo 3 on switch during pandemic lockdown on a GameCube style controller and it was GLORIOUS, having mapped my different spells and moves to the GC con's many distinctly shaped buttons. just perfect 👍

I think it depends on how much "DIY" style gaming you've done on "alternative" devices 😂 I got kinda addicted to trying different controllers for different games over the years, using the flexibility that emulation can offer.

I've had similar thoughts about the OG Xbox controller(s,) they were a really great design on paper, regardless if you like the overall execution. Xbox 360 con has always been far more uncomfortable than those designs, imo, with its big handles and tiny little cramped top + shoulders
