It's that time of year again folks. We would love to ask you some questions and would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to respond to our anonymous survey.
Why is this important to us? Our websites survive mainly due to those who choose to advertise their games on our websites. Advertisers typically (and understandably) want to know who they are advertising to, therefore, our survey gives us a snapshot view of our audience in 2025.
This year we're trying to keep things quite focused and have boiled everything down to 20 simple questions. Some of them are about you, some of them about which platforms you own and the games you buy and finally where you typically get your gaming news. All questions are optional, but any personal questions will contain a 'Prefer not to say' option.
We are running the same survey across all Hookshot websites; that is Nintendo Life, Push Square, Pure Xbox and Time Extension. You only need to answer it once, and it doesn't matter which site you do it on.
We will run more site-specific surveys in due course.
Sorry, this survey is now closed
Phew, you did it! Thank you so much for sharing your responses with us.
Your personal responses will be kept private in line with our privacy policy and will only be used to share anonymised and aggregated responses to our questions.
What was your favourite question this year? Are you disappointed we didn't ask about your dog's favourite game? Let us know in the comments below.

I seem to be unable to submit answers. Normally I use Vivaldi with uBlock, but even on a new install of Firefox with no adblocker and no addons at all actually, the submit buttons just seem to get stuck on "please wait".
I tried to submit answers but it never took.
@mariteaux I've just tested with a clean Firefox and working as expected... could you perhaps try and view the javascript errors console and email a screenshot to bugs [at] timeextension.com please?
@mariteaux @Daggot could you try again now? I think we just managed to fix that.
I use brave browser on Android with ad block features on and I was able to submit answers. that was kinda fun! 👍
"How many full price games do you typically buy a year?"
There should be a zero option. I stopped buying full price games years ago once I realized that the vast majority of brand new games are incomplete and buggy. Now I wait and only buy games on sale that have had months if not years of updates. This is especially true for digital games. At this point in my life I own so many games, the marketing hype of "I must buy now" carries no weight.
Physical games may be slightly different, but for the most part I have learned that if I wait a little, I can buy the game on discount and get a more complete game. New games just go on my wish list and I am notified of discounts.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant would be nice if you considered disabling ad blocker if you enjoy our content, or become a supporter.
@antdickens Working fine now, thank you.
@RenderSpotlight The way the question is written it also begs the question what a "Full Price Game" is because later it asks how many Indie games you buy in a year. So is buying an MSRP $20 indie game for $20 a "Full Price Game?"
There's also then the question of what determines if a game is indie or not, potentially even what is considered to be a game. I buy a lot of digital pinball tables as DLC for Zen Pinball and Zaccaria Pinball. Technically each of those pinball games is a distinct unique game, but they're listed in their game stores as DLC.
I guess it just depends on what exact value they're intending to get out of the answers provided. The more vaguely worded the question, the less consistently the question will be interpreted, and thus the less valid assumptions you can make about the data you receive.
@antdickens
fair, I will look into becoming a supporter. ✌️❤️ I use your site(s) every damn day.
EDIT - consider yourselves ... supported. 😎
@archov
Ha!, yeah, I thought about that after I posted it. The reason was because I recently bought a "new" game on Steam. However, it was technically on sale. So I kind of broke my rule, but it was on sale and I thought $1.90 for a "new" game was not much of a risk. It ended up being a fun little Zelda 1 dungeon type puzzle game.
I felt I got my $1.90 out of the purchase!
I took the question as full price big release games. I never buy those.
That was a relief!
Also, the question of how many indie games do we buy in a year? And the maximum was "15+"?
I do that in a month!
I was considering answering the survey, but the content of the survey doesn't match the output of the site. This seems like just a data grab, which internet users are bombarded with more than enough of already, without actively volunteering for it.
@WhiteUmbrella I thought I explained it fairly well in the article, it’s not site specific — we’re running the same questions across all our sites and is purely to provide audience insights to potential advertisers (so they know who is the type of audience their ads are seen by on our sites). We don’t sell the data.
Okay I completed it although I think the survey should be tailored more for this website. This website isn't really a modern gaming website so a lot of my answers were 'none'.
I wish the survey was tailored to this site as well and no personal questions. No questions about sex, age, income or if children in household and their ages.
I use Opera GX and it worked fine for me.
