I loved my Micro. I made sure it was always in my work bag along with a charge cable for my commute. I mostly played Zelda (can't remember which one - one of the Capcom ones) and Mario VS Donkey Kong (that game gets brutal).
I always find it amusing how ***** games become classics when they're deemed "retro" (and i'm all about retro otherwise i wouldn't be here). This game was *****. Probe had no idea what they were doing.
Super high-speed racing with super sensitive, twitchy controls on super narrow tracks with tight turns that you can't see coming š
Compare it to F-Zero for example, where you have super high-speed vehicles, smooth controls, the tracks are wide and you can see the bends coming. Class.
I mean look how much railing the player is doing in the demo above.
@Fighting_Game_Loser I was about to reply along the same lines including using the term "nothing burger" š
Shinobi AOV is a great game. I loved it, as i did the original arcade and console games. I also love retro arcade game styles. It's what i was raised on. However i would certainly 100% expect for them to modernise the gameplay for a new Shinobi game and what we got was great!
Here's the thing, these so called "modern players" will happily spend hours playing primitive Roblox games. If suddenly they decide that they don't like "primitive retro arcade style gameplay" then that's just doesn't make sense.
I think they're looking in the wrong direction for why it didn't sell as well as they hoped.
@AlienX My mate had his contract terminated recently because the business decided they can use one dev to type prompts into Claude. This is only going to happen more. I think our days are numbered buddy š¢
Personally i would just LOVE to see HD-2D remakes of the Final Fantasy instalments, including 7.
I found part 1 of the 7 remake to be a bit of a slog. Aspects of the game were drawn out so much and adding voice acting really took away a lot of the charm.
I really enjoyed the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake and can't wait to settle into the 1 & 2 remakes.
I spent large amount of my childhood in arcades. The Trocadero was a highlight. Recently i got to experience Arcade Club in Leeds where you pay a single price on entry and all arcade machines are free. And do you know what? It was packed. Not with old gen x'ers like me but with gen z's too. They were playing mostly multi-player games but there were smiles all around.
It shows you that there is still an appetite for this type of entertainment. Stick an arcade in every town centre and they will come and they will spend.
Fantastic news and great work. For me the greatest console of all time. Wish i could get my hands on a Super NT but until then MiSTer and Pocket will continue doing a great job.

Damien, probably worth noting that there is a distinction between remake and remaster. Remasters usually fine tune existing assets (making them HD etc). Remakes will usually involve new assets.

I love my PlayDate. Itās a great device to take when travelling. Particularly because i go off-grid when i travel and avoid using my phone. This little retro device, when offline and when there are no distractions, takes me right back to those days when games were simple but sometimes needed a little patience (which is something i lack in everyday life).
Personally i donāt see the need for this. Itās a gimmick. When it comes to gaming hardware, particularly retro gaming, i donāt want gimmicks, just results.

I had a similar experience with physical exercise. Since i started regularly exercising and stretching iām much more flexible and have very little back pain (stretching in particular is so underrated, especially in our mostly-sitting lifestyles).
