If FF6 is a two act story, then DQXI is basically the same two acts AND a third one on top of that (at least kinda), and that game was released in one complete package... or 4 actually... 3DS, 2D, regular PS4 and S Definitive.
If Square Enix can accomplish that, then there is NO reason to drag the story of FF6 out over 4-5 games.
It truly sucks that so many of these kinda great Gundam games never left Japan. It's cool that we at least got Extreme VS. Maxiboost ON digitally for the PS4, but this whole batch of Fromsoft exclusives were just left as is...
I'm all digital on my Xbox, the last PlayStation I bought was the PS3, where I'm physical for everything except for digital only titles. I mainly play via Steam, and on my Switch 2 I only buy first party exclusives, and those I buy physically. I feel for the ones impacted the most, but here's the thing for me... I'm DONE with console gaming outside Nintendo. Xbox are messing up bigtime now, and PlayStation doesn't have my trust at all either. At least on PC, that's an open platform, with lots of options that consoles simply don't have. If this generation has taught me anything, it's that the console market for me is simply dead (Nintendo notwithstanding) after all the boneheaded moves MS and Sony have been making these last couple of years. It feels good to just leave all of that behind me and fully embrace the PC.
@Fighting_Game_Loser That sucks. Here in Europe their releases are regular ones you can get from any game store worth their name, but then again, both CRG and LRG are under the same umbrella, so I guess the money goes to the same people any which way.
Even if the book bends the truth here or there, it's a fantastic read and one I highly recommend! That bittersweet ending almost brought a tear to my eye.
@Soupbones It shouldn't, right? From what I heard, the game is more or less complete and their refining, optimizing and bug-testing it, so even if he was involved, his departure shouldn't affect that game in any significant way.
@Coalescence Retro Achievements would actually be kinda awesome, but for me, that would be just a bonus. I'm really happy with where the machine is now. Everything post now is just gravy!
@Cronodoug I felt like I was alone in preferring the PSOne to the original. I'm not much for white consoles, but that one, with its smaller form factor and more rounded design just captures my eye more than the boxy original.
@gojiguy To be fair, Guwange is available and playable on Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility, and it plays great, especially the dual stick mode, but sure, would be great on other platforms as well!
I updated, and all of a sudden it doesn't want to work where I used it before. It works on another tv, but not my primary one. It gets power, but there's no image, and I've tested other devices with the cables and the seem to work fine. Extremely weird.
EDIT: I tried downgrading the firmware, and it shows the update screen, but then it just goes dark after restarting. Guessing my TV doesn't accept the signal or something any longer.
EDIT 2: Fixed it! Changed it to output 1080p instead of 4K on the other tv, plugged it into my main setup, and it worked. Guess it was just a matter of HDR or resolution collision.
I've got all four of these games, and the three 3DS BoxBoy games (and the physical, which I bought new when it released with the Qbby amiibo, and just look at it now!).
Really wish all of them would get rereleased so more people can experience them! Lovely, unique puzzlers!
I'm really more interested to know if PS1 MK4 and/or MK Gold for the Dreamcast will be included. Maybe they're saving the latter for a second collection with the PS2 games as well in the future, or as paid DLC. Other than that, I find little to complain about here. Already preordered.
OT, this is a shame. I'm all for offering new and fun ways to engage with gaming, and giving more people an opportunity to simulate classic lightgun action would have been fun.
At least there are other options out there for lightguns too, but this seemed like a cheap and fun version.
@Blast16 I just think it looks more comfortable, more ergonomic and use of higher quality plastics. 8bitdo make great products and I've had nothing but good experiences from them in the past. Their Ultimate 2 Pad has quickly become my go to controller since I got it.
Just ordered the black one. I've been using the Retro Fighters Brawler 64 since I kickstarted it way back when, but this looks better in every way. Gonna match nicely with the Analogue 3D once that arrives as well.
@SlangWon All of City Connection's "Boosted" editions have had optional arranged soundtracks included. I'd imagine the same to be true here. I would be surprised if they formatted the game for widescreen and DIDN'T at least provide the option to play in the correct aspect ratio.
@gojiguy The regular PS4 version was sent out MONTHS ago, but still no word whatsoever on where the Switch version is. We're almost 3 years in since the pre-order first went live. After I get that, I'm never buying from SLG again.
@Quick_Man Yeah, I'm aware of the Arika situation. Every problem can be solved if enough money is thrown at it, but the question is in this case, how much would be too much, and would Arika accept that offer?
I own 1 & 2 on PS1 and 3 on PS2, but it's not about me, I want more people to be able to play them!
@GhaleonUnlimited I think SuperDeluxe in Japan will distribute it. They are co-owned by Limited Run Games, and trust me, I don't want to support LRG directly, but SuperDeluxe have some really impressive and high quality releases!
Been playing a lot of Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6 recently via emulation. Really wish Namco would port that series to consoles as well, but it doesn't seem like it'll ever happen. I know Genki's involved with that franchise as well though, and this seems like something I could definitely get into as well. Will likely pick up in early access soon!
You mentioned SoulCalibur, but another Namco classic also got the "superior home port" with Time Crisis 2, where the PS2 graphics and models look significantly more detailed. While the arcade original has its charm, I'll say PS2 all the way for that one!
@jimmytodgers I don't care much about the texture filtering, but the texture warping on PS1 is something I could definitely live without, and emulators letting you fix that flaw is a bit of a god send imo.
Just picked up UFO50 and will play it during the holidays. Will pcik up the Llamasoft collection as well, and Devil Blade Reboot, now that is just an awesome time!
I've got 7 of the SuperDeluxe releases so far. Sol Cresta, Tetris Effect, Cuphead, DDP Resurrection, Radiant Silvergun, Mushihimesama and Espgaluda 2. All of them are extremely nicely put together!
@Blast16 Yeah, it really would be a crime NOT mentioning Ghost Squad and the Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns double pack. Those are must haves for any light gun enthusiast! <3
Discovered Teknoparrot last year, and it has brought me so much joy, finally being able to play all those arcade games that I would never have been able to experience otherwise, including this one.
It's a shame, but a fan translation exists, so it's not really that bad imo. If it was a completely original game, it would have been a lot more upsetting.

I've got it for the 360, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Might as well wait and see if this is true.

@notreallyhere I at least know that Yanya Caballista came with a mini skateboard that you could place on top of the two analogue sticks.
Re: Random: The Internet Is Going Crazy For This Early 2000s Activision Surfing Game
I still think no game so far has come close to matching the FEEL of water as well as Wave Race 64, but maybe that's just me.

Re: Cotton Reboot! High Tension! Is Finally Coming To The West, Along With Switch 2 & PS5 Versions Of Cotton Reboot!
@Fighting_Game_Loser Seems to me that ININ and Strictly Limited Games are on their last legs, and Clear River is picking up the slack. They're the new go to publisher for physical shoot ém up releases in Europe!
