I hope these games get archived but at the same time I’m not losing much sleep over this cause the homebrew section was infrequently updated and mostly had crummy slapjobs or glorified tech demos on it, nothing like the crazy stuff people are currently doing in the community

Not feeling this tbh. Sprites have that horrid tweeny earnest evans look to them and everything is super saturated and rusty looking, all the originals personality is p much lost here. No clue why anyone would buy this over the original which is available via Johnny turbos arcade or on mame for free with better accuracy.

Especially with those amazing shadow of the ninja and hebereke/ufouria remakes out likely at the same time and Mario rpg plus paper Mario on the horizon, this is just pathetic in comparison.

This looks absolutely incredible omfgsjsjskwi, like genuinely on par with if not a little bit better than Mario wonder visually , day 1 purchase for me EASILY and I’d kill to see more sunsoft remakes in this vain, especially if they get to do their licensed stuff like gremlins 2 or Batman

I only know about this game due to that one taco man atari episode lol, no clue it was unreleased.

These were terrible ports that should’ve been paid from the start with how unplayable they were with the onslaught of ads, not to mention the lineup of games was pathetic as well. Not losing any sleep over this because similar to the sega ages releases on switch there’s no reason to play these versions of the games instead of the ogs via actual hardware or pc emulation.

the original snow bros is absolutely a slog but the second is genuinely a lot of fun, so i'm definitely looking forward to this.

also if we could get a knuckle bash remake down the line i wouldn't be opposed to that : )

@KingMike Neither of the pc engine cd games were on it despite the description for darius plus mentioning it, outside of a tedious save state system there are no quality of life features, and there isn't even a gallery or history segment to anything. Also you're probably right about taito being the reasoning for the pricing they've been kinda wack lately with this stuff outside of arcade archives.

@QuackFu toonstruck had a whole segment where a farm gets turned into a bdsm dungeon. I dont recall clayfighter 63 and a half having much controversy and i was going more off of the actual content in game. Besides, clayfighter 1 and 2 have next to no offensive content in them.

@QuackFu if that was the case they wouldnt have recently rereleased toonstruck on top of working with doug tenapel to make a new earthworm jim game for the intellivision amico

@Guru_Larry Semi-related but the lego segments in across the spider-verse were literally added because chris and lord saw a kid doing insanely impressive fan made lego recreations of the trailers and hired him to do the segments. Wish companies would either do that or take the capcom route of giving the fandevs goodies as compensation.

@treos this problem exists neverending-ly in the big triple a "bLoCkBuStEr" genre that most popular companies in the gaming and entertainment industry use. I almost always pirate these big name games whereas my money is really only going to indie devs on steam and whatnot. nintendo insomniac and capcom are literally the only consistently bright spots in what is otherwise just the sequel to the atari era of 80's gaming lmao.
