Love this genre of eu platformer where they just completely vomit their brain onto the levels with a bunch of absurd surrealist imagery without any worry for cohesion or sense. This whole game gives me the same energy as stuff like JJ Squawkers and Top Banana only yknow. Minus the seizure risk💀

@KainXavier LITERALLY THO!!! As a kid every time I’d come up to those 500 in one arcade cabinets I’d ALWAYS immediately do this game instead of pac man or donkey kong cause it gave me that thrilling shoot and dodge gameplay that I always crave lmao. Will absolutely be picking this up ASAP.

@slider1983 that may have been the intention behind Paprium but between the game taking 10 years to come out, people not getting their cartridges even now, Fons constantly going on psychotic Joker mental breakdowns online, and the EXHORBENT price tag the game has ESPECIALLY if trying to buy it second hand completely ruin the whole thing. Why should I give this game and it’s horrible creator my money when I could get streets of rage 1-3, final fight cd, hyperstone heist, golden axe, and SO many more on the same console for (mostly) 5x less the price? Not to mention all the AMAZING modern beat em’ ups nowadays like streets of rage 4 and shredder’s revenge that similarly cost less too.

This BS is why i ALWAYS choose emulation rather than giving these psychos my money. Theyre all just a bunch of sick in the head grifters who view old video games as some bizzare get-rich-quick scheme rather than as the cherishable pieces of art they are, and it blows up in their face spectacularly. We saw it with Paprium, we saw it with SuperSega, we saw it with Strictly Limited games, we saw it with Piko interactive, and we’ll continue to see it until the end of time. Idc about the “physical authenticity” if I have to obtain said authenticity by forking 80-100 bucks over to an irl Silent Hill villain who likely won’t even deliver on their promises, it’s just not worth it to me.

@NinChocolate The Genesis version of caveman ninja is better too since it maintains the ghouls and ghosts styled gameplay of the arcade game making for a more faithful experience than the snes one, but also gets rid of the god-awful adventure island styled hunger system that completely ruined the flow of the coin-op original, thank god😵‍💫

Super Darius 2 is another taito port I prefer to the home game, mainly for having more interesting boss fights and the smaller screen space imo giving the game a faster feeling.

There is no such thing as not being able to achieve something on a set console, it just takes skill and creativity lol. We live in a world where there’s an entire snes rtx demo for gods sake lmao.

Salamander and gradius 2 on the pc engine, for having better sound, an actual reasonable difficulty with the ability to continue, and extra content like adjustable options and an extra stage in the latter port. The sega cd version of final fight too for toning down the bs enemy ai of the original game and having less overwhelming waves of enemies, as well as having a more pleasing warm color palette and the obviously amazing redbook audio.
I think the best one tho has GOT to be double dragon 2 both on pc engine and nes. The og arcade game is just a weak retooling of the og game with weird level themeing, whereas the console versions(barring Genesis LMFAO) turn it into a completely different and fantastic game with great visuals for their systems, fun intuitive combat and pretty good level variety, especially with the pseudo-platforming stages in the nes game. AND, both games still keep in the good elements from the arcade game, like the creepy shadow self boss fight, the surprisingly dark story, and the lovably goofy boss characters like Burnov and the overweight Terminator lol.
