Re: More Amico Games Release On Switch & Steam, As The Company Still Insists Hardware Is The Goal

@Andee It can be summed up by these things:

  • Tommy Tallarico couldn't keep his mouth shut and overpromised endless possible games for the Amico which were just suggestions therefore people say he's a liar.
  • Amico crowd funded $17 million through Kickstarter, sorry, investment crowdfunding and where did all that money go is the question always being asked.
  • Detractors are very concerned about the investors being misled about the people recruited to lead this project because of course putting out a new console you're not going to hype and market it to investors.
  • The console is a scam because it's about casual games (which is a bad thing apparently).
  • Tommy in an interview called out gamers as being elitists for not wanting simple casual gaming but in anger called gamers "gaming racists".
  • Tommy follows right wing people so that means the Amico is a scam and shouldn't come out.
  • Apparently a furniture lawsuit means the console is a scam. The detractors are REALLY invested in that one for some reason.

Above all the reason the CUPodcast is covering it is because when they said they didn't see the point of the console Tommy snubbed them online and dismissed their opinions so as a result those two have been grifting off the drama since 2018. The same podcast that shadow banned me for not liking their favourite Star Wars movies. Meanwhile their biggest fans have a subreddit and Discord to harass, insult, do defamation videos and generally dox or obsess about anyone that's remotely been interested in the console. 🙄

@Toy_Link I assumed this is aimed at me? I mean why would anyone take as truth what those two have to say? They're hardly reliable and depending on who you talk to have some wild, incompetent takes they air.

Also in regards to supporting RFID cards it was obviously good enough an idea for Nintendo to adopt it. We are heading towards a future where physical media is being discontinued. This offers the most realistic way to merge physical with digital while allowing the reselling of what the consumer buys when they finish with it. Of course I'm going to support it. Feel free to be suspicious then of someone who supports physical media. If that's my apparent crime, good! 👍

Considering the Commodore Amiga is my favourite computer this is terrific news. I would be interested in knowing more detail about how you managed to buy all the trademarks back since there was so many. I'm still however sceptical this will lead to anything more than a niche hobbyist interest. The last thing we need is more Power PC's with the Commodore name on them. We're still a long way to go to be on the same page as Microsoft and Apple back in the 80's and 90's.

@carlos82 Wow wow, there's some stuff here that is incorrect:

"but it very much became a scam when they realised a long time ago that they couldn't deliver but still kept asking for money."

That's not a scam. The raised financial investment once they realised they would need it. Sure you can argue they did use their budget accurately but that's more incompetence than a malicious agenda.

"and had Tommy making stuff up."

That's him by himself doing that because we know TT exaggerates or overpromises on stuff that hasn't been finalised.

"given they don't sell anything"

Did you not see the article? They're selling games?

Was it really necessary to add a video link to the Bert and Ernie of gaming podcasts? 😆

I hope the console does come out but my issues are too much time has past for it to be a success. Having said that, they do plan on updating the hardware for hopefully when the console is released.

I am glad however that one retro gaming community as well as Nintendo have adopted what Amico was going to do with physical media. Hopefully more companies will catch on. 👍

@Peteykins I can't take any of your comments here seriously. 😂

@carlos82 I got to correct you a bit here. Firstly there's a handful of people still working at the company. Not much I know, but more than just two. Secondly, the console wasn't a scam but through mismanagement and bad luck it hasn't come out yet.
