Back when Time Extension launched in 2022, everyone here at Hookshot Media knew we were taking a gamble.
While interest in retro gaming has grown over the decades, it's still a small niche in a very large market, and there has always been the fear that by focusing almost solely on games from the past, we might not find the audience we need to make such a venture sustainable.
I'm happy to say that the gamble has paid off, and Time Extension has carved out a modest yet highly engaged audience in the few years it has been a reality. I'm immensely proud of the bespoke content we've produced over that time, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you – our loyal readers – for choosing to give our site your attention.

Time Extension is looking for a talented and knowledgeable UK-based News Editor to join Jack and me on the site. This role will involve covering all the latest news from the world of retro gaming and ensuring our readers are up to date on the latest announcements and breaking stories in classic gaming.
This full-time, remote role is ideally suited to someone with strong English skills and a confident writing style, emphasising clarity and economy while maintaining a personable, humorous tone. The ability to proofread their own work (and that of others) is also a must.
You'll naturally have an extensive knowledge of video games across a wide range of genres, with a particular focus on classic and retro games, but also modern gaming. We'd expect you to have the ability to write eye-catching headlines for news and discussion articles, a reasonable understanding of SEO, a strong work ethic with a high degree of determination and drive, excellent organisational skills and a methodical mindset.
