During a new live stream, held this weekend to spotlight the Pocket KRONKR hardware, developer AYANEO revealed plans to update its Android-based launcher AYASpace. The ingeniously monikered AYASpace 2 will offer its users an intricately detailed and visually splendid new way to curate their library of games, creating what AYANEO is dubbing a "Pocket Museum"
The Pocket KRONKR stream is archived below; the AYASpace 2 reveal is at the 45:00 minute mark
AYASpace 2 will recognise installed ROMs based on game data and will populate the library into "Halls", defined by a litany of filters including genre, era, developer, and platform, and accompanied by visual elements such as box art, cart design, museum-style podiums and display cases, and other materials. Users can import their own media packs for fully detailed models, or use the launcher's built-in library of generic cover images.
From an emulation standpoint, AYASpace 2 includes modern features such as Save State, Rewind, and Fast-Forward functions, as well as screen filters and "per-game" options, allowing users to fine-tune each game's settings, rather than uniformly applying settings across the entire library. Additionally, AYASpace 2 will feature cross-platform support, so users with multiple handhelds can transfer their settings and states across all owned hardware (provided it is also running AYASpace 2, of course).
Currently, AYASpace 2 is only available for KONKR Pocket Advance, KONKR Pocket Micro, and KONKR Pocket Block, and is available to download from the AYANEO Pocket Museum site. A basic media pack is also available. Hopefully, the developer will offer support for further devices in the near future.
