@hste Looking at their new catalogue of games they're heading in the correct direction so they're very much the old Microprose in my opinion.

I encourage more of these books if it means less comments like "I could never get into those euro-platformers" as though they're that "thing" I never grew up to appreciate and validate next to platformers outside of Europe. 🙄

@Guru_Larry From my understanding the PS1 version has been changed a bit for each new port, for the worse.

@flojomojo They've done more since the 80's and early 90's but yeah, nothing that's surpassed Dizzy.

This looks pretty awesome, probably superior to the original.

It's probably the best solution they could come up with.

I love the fact MicroProse was revived but this isn't the type of game I'd associate with them. I think they're best at handling simulations. 🤔

@Exerion76 I maintain GZT isn't just the best FMV game for Mega CD but one of its best games. Good story and for an FMV game there's a lot of gameplay.

@Exerion76 Yeah that one hurts as it's one of my favourite FMV games and one of the best Mega CD games. At least Corpse Killer still exists but admittedly not great compared to GZT.

@kitestar All of these games should be remastered for future generations, good or bad.

@Exerion76 I did ask about GZT at the time of the remaster and was told only the video tapes existed so this might be the only quality available although it's odd considering it was treated as a film production with a film director.

Actually I asked them directly, Flash Film Works response:

"On GZT none of the dailies reels survived, and all that was available was a Betacam SP dub of the edited masters."

"Also does any film exist for any of the Digital Pictures games? Was sad when my favourite Ground Zero Texas only existed via video tape."

"The only film dailies that existed were for Corpse Killer, What's My Story and some of the model work on Maximum Surge. Most of the projects were shot on digital betacam."

"It was determined that no one could definitively claim ownership to the extent that they could license the game to us. Knowing this, we started the process with the Agency of Cultural Affairs to get a license through them. In this arrangement, the Agency of Cultural Affairs takes a standard licensing royalty from us and holds that money in the event that a clear owner comes forward."

I suppose Nightdive could do this to get the rights to remaster No One Lives Forever?

Speed is good. Even the original SNES port didn't manage that.

@Atariboy I do get the impression they weren't going to do much with it and I know people wanted something that allowed physical media to be used. The Amico anyway was trying to be an evolution of that. In hindsight it would have been better to merge both ideas.

We are indeed living in different realities if you think they didn't get anything wrong. This is one of the main problems I have with their audience. They DON'T RESEARCH around the podcast. They want to hate something and because the CUPodcast's feelings were hurt they made it their mission to create a mob mentality. They love the attention though, I've noticed. 😂
