There's nothing wrong with porting games but with new homebrew games it often feels like a lazy excuse to bring the same game to different platforms without taking advantage of the hardware. This isn't what they're talking about as they're talking about whether porting existing commercial games is worth the time.

But yeah if you're going to do a multi-platform release of a 2D game make it take advantage of the hardware otherwise what's the point of having a 2D game on Dreamcast, a 3D format when it's the same game that appeared on Mega Drive?

@PKDuckman Honestly I don't see a difference. Video game movies today are just absolutely boring and STILL don't follow the video games they're based on.

We get shovelware today with Sega homebrew, I'm wary that the Mega CD will just be used for similar stuff to the 90's.

@metaphysician Ah well that's different. I completely agree Sega should focus on remastering games from a variety of systems. Having said that, it was a big mistake keeping the Sega AGES line just to Switch. When I look at the PS2 and Switch stuff it's sad it wasn't made available in other places like PC.

Why not do a collection of the Dragon Slayer games? People would buy it and they remaster the Legend of Heroes games.
