Veteran publisher Commodore, currently on its new-age comeback run, has officially opened public orders for its Commodore 64C Ultimate, following its early release for pre-order customers in 2025. So if you were after the nostalgic hardware for yourself but missed the pre-order window, you are now able to jump on that hot Uridium action.

The Commodore 64C Ultimate is a modern reproduction of the 1986 C64C, which itself was a redesigned, slimline edition of the best-selling "breadbin" home computer, first launched by Commodore International in 1982 and to this day is recognised as the best-selling home computer of all time.

The C64C Ultimate uses FPGA technology to recreate the hardware and software abilities of its grandpappy, resulting in a modern emulation machine that features full support for original C64 software and accessories, so you can still use your ghastly Bart Simpson-shaped joystick.

The C64C Ultimate has USB support, allowing users to connect mice and external drives, and comes bundled with a USB "cassette" featuring over 100 programs, including games, art packages, demos, music makers, and other tools. The C64C Ultimate retains the BASIC editor for those looking to reignite their bedroom programming spirit.

The C64C Ultimate is now available to purchase from Commodore International at the following price points:

BASIC Beige
$299.99 / €270.00 - Standard Edition
Starlight Edition
$349.99 / €315.00 - With translucent case and "game-reactive" LED lighting
Founder’s Edition
$499.99 / €450.00 - "Gently translucent" white case, PVD gold keycaps.

The Founders Edition includes several exclusive extras: A Gold Seal Certificate, gold-plated dog tags, a "Power Badge" necklace, and a Commodore flag. I'll definitely be flying that during my next inner-city riot.
