Playmaji, the developer behind physical-media-reading multi-console Polymega, has posted a cryptic message on the company's X account, filled with dramatic, purple text but not overtly teasing any one project or release in particular.

"Years passed, and a great city rose, welcoming kingdoms far and wide. It had grand palaces, bustling markets, and bridges to distant lands. Yet beneath it flowed a cobalt river, buried under its infrastructure. A mark of its heritage awaiting rediscovery."

So there you go, looking forward to those Distant Lands, I hope.

Commenters on the social media site have responded with a mix of understandable befuddlement and a pinch of apathy. To be fair, the Polymega community has been through the wringer a little, dealing with initial shipping delays and the frustrating collapse of European distributor WWD (Worldwide Distribution GmbH), which left some with pre-orders undelivered and payments unreturned - though many of these cases were eventually resolved.

More recently, Polymega announced it was among the many tech companies hit by what's being referred to around some parts as the "RAMpocalypse", with the apparent "need" for A.I. data centres causing a massive surge in component pricing. As such, the Polymega and its variants, such as the Polymega Remix, have been hit with an unfortunate price hike. This is not the fault of the group, but rather a reflection of the industry at large.

And so, I can understand why this mysterious post hasn't quite set the rumour mill on fire. It's likely that the company is teasing a new game collection, perhaps fantasy-themed. And no doubt we'll find out soon enough, when we'll be sure to bring you all the details.
