I am too picky with handhelds and their ergonomy. The only one that I am happy with is with the original Gameboy and many of these devices doesn't take care about it. Hell, neither Nintendo with the Switch!

These are tragic times. Creative Assembly was one of my favourite developers at the beginning of the century. So disrespectful to your own product.

Our children will not be able to enjoy a love-crafted product anymore. They will be so full of dopamine from AI slop, that their brains will be just fried for anything else. This will affect the whole hobby as there will be a race to the bottom to monetize as much money and time as possible with the less effort.

Anybody knows why these new models don't include a Bluetooth/WiFi receiver? Extra costs? I have a black model and apart from one controller, I am not having any problem with the wireless.

I am mostly happy with my new SS One but if this new one can read cartridges, I could probably be in. My Snes beat the dust this week. Hopefully is just a bad capacitor that someone nearby can replace, but these machines are more than 30 years old and they will not be forever with us.

@Thad Yes, it is a filter. You can find it in the Display options. The problem is that it is too blurry and the dark lines are misaligned.

@Thad The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster filter is one of the most horrible CRT filters I've ever seen. Glad that they haven't messed it here this time. The same with the typography. I hope now that they don't put any mandarory borders and for me will be a must buy.

Yoshi's Island, Illusion of Time and Terranigma, the three games that I unfortunatelly missed when games were not so cheap. I had to chose between Secret of Evermore and Illusion of Time and between Terranigma and a N64 game. I am looking forward to Monday and what will they show us!

The Gameboy emulation is a special case for me: I have played so many hours with this machine during more than thirty years, that I notice any small change in it. I am glad that such filters/shaders exist. For example, I like the emulator of the Nintendo Switch Online, but the sound is too "crispy". It makes the 8bit tracks lose some of that mistery / nostalgic charm.

Sega Rally and who knows, maybe then Daytona 64... What a time to be alive!

It will come the day that I will need to change the screen of mine. I repaired at least three times the vertical lines and the Start button is getting harder zu press even after cleaning it and the PCB.

It looks fantastic. I love the minimal basic interface with History and Favorites implemented. I am still waiting for mine to be delivered. Hopefully when it arrives, the new interface is ready.

My plan is to use it as a 16-bit/PlayStation /Saturn all-in-one machine. I was thinking about updating my Mega Everdrive X7 to a Pro, but for 20€ more I decided that the SS1 was the cheapest/convenient way to play Mega-CD games.

Without Pokémon they could have a chance, as they were cool devices, but with so many devices already sold and suddenly you get such a game... You don't want to play anything else. And arcade machines were still everywhere. If I wanted to play Metal Slug, I could just go to the arcade to play with the big one.

@Foxhound it doesn't help how Konami manages their IPs. It hurts with Snatcher, because it has been officially translated for 30 years. Peguin Adventure was released for the Wii but only in Japan. Snatcher only for the PC-Engine Mini in japanese.

Great Interview! What a pleasure to read it. As a child/teenager you don't think too much about the people working in games, but now as an adult, you can feel identified with them and, at least for me, I appreciate them even more, knowing the work behind.

In a normal world, people would wait for the product to be released, check some reviews and the buy it or not. Nowadays you have a mix of preorders, FOMO, hype and expectations above reality. Add to this the thousands of YouTubers leeching off the work of others to make money with some doomposting .

@jesse_dylan it wouldn't have any sense to not release a ROM this time. The gbc screen is what it is and many people play its games on emulation handhelds or modern systems.

Good Sega allowed us to buy their Mega Drive Classic Collection that includes the ROMs. I legally play these games on my console. And nobody gets harm.

Nintendo should be blamed for this: the gamepad constantly drains battery until it is empty and this finally damages the battery. Lithium batteries should be stored with at least 50% of its load.
