Re: Surprise! The Developers Behind Cuphead Just Announced A New 8-Bit Spin-Off For The Sega Master System

Exerion76

@turboxray
I play on all systems.

Master System has 8KB of RAM and 16KB of VRAM which is largely superior to the NES' 2KB of work RAM and 2KB of VRAM, and it also the Zilog Z80 processor runs at 3.58mhz whilst the NES's Ricohs 2A03 and 2A07 run at 1.79 and 1.66mhz

On NES, those expansion chips in the NES carts, was doing that extra work, not the native NES hardware itself.

The Master System don't need that.
And still delivers better graphics.
Check out this WIP demo, as an example.

Re: "I Think They Are Missing A Trick" - Evercade Boss Says The Games Industry Is Failing Older Players

Also:
"If all developers are focusing on these huge cinematic experiences, and they're aiming at teenagers and [people in their] early 20s, that kind of age group, then I think they are missing a trick."

How out of touch are they? Plenty of us older gamers enjoy also those modern games, and there are a HUGE number of games, that are more than cinematic, and made for all age groups. Even some elderly people in their 70s-80s have started to play modern video games.

I'm playing the Adventures of Elliot demo, and it feels like playing a recently discovered old SNES/PS1 game, when it comes to the experience. Getting the same feeling, as when I played Zelda 3, in my teens.

There are a "million" ways to play retro games today, from any old system. Retrogamers who grew up in the 70:s-90:s, either still have their favorite systems, or have moved on to emulation or fpga. Evercade was a fun novelty, the first year or two, but mediocre built quality, and cartridges that can die at any moment, and now focusing on newer stuff, killed the fun. I'm so burned out on this nostalgia wave anyway, as the market have become oversaturated with it now.

Just get a chinese handheld, and play everything, up to the 32bit era. It blows the Evercade away, no matter if it's emulation or fpga. Or I bet everone, have a device at home, capable of emulation, these days.
I got zero problems, downloading roms, as the original programmers/developers, wont see any of the money, from Evercade sales.

Though I gladly support new indie games, for old consoles, if I can buy the rom, directly from the developer, instead of going through a company like Evercade.

Wonder how this retro wave will survive, when our generation is gone. Sure some younger gamers also enjoy retro, but I bet it's mostly from the N64-PS3 era now.

Re: Thanks To AI, The Steam Deck Now Costs As Much As $300 More

Exerion76

950 euros now, for the 1tb model, for a 4 year old, already outdated handheld, than can barely run newer AAA games, at the lowers setting and resolutions. You can get a PS5 Pro for less than that.
I'm glad I upgraded my PC, two years ago, before this madness started...

Was looking forward to buy the Steam VR headset, but it will probably be stupid expensive now.

And I don't dare to guess what the Steam Machine will cost. It was supposed to be a budget way, to bring PC gaming to the living room. But since it's supposed to be 6x the power of a Steam Deck, that entry point will become unaffordable, defeating the purpose of the damn thing.

If this AI crisis, keeps on going for many years to come, then my latest upgrade to my gaming PC, might be the last.

Re: Zelda: Minish Cap Gets Natively Ported To PC

Exerion76

What's the point, when you can play the original with an emulator, since you still have to use a rom?
If they had made an enhanced remake instead, with higher res details, or some other visual effects, then sure. but a 1:1 port...

Re: Limited Run Games Announces Widespread Delays, Concedes Delivery Dates Were "Too Aggressive" & "Overly Optimistic"

Exerion76

@jason160uk
I'm waiting for the Japan MD release instead.
Hopefully we get a release date soon.

Sure, Superdeluxe Games are associated with Limited Run, but they don't feel anywhere near as scummy.
And I expect their cartridges to be of better quality.
Not gonna murder my MD with a risky LRG cart.

I wanna support Yuzo Koshiro, so we get more MD games in the future. But I hate that he made a deal with LRG, which was a huge disappointment. Hope his future games, are released physically, from his own company.

I already bought the game on Steam, so I don't feel bad about playing the rom on my Mega Everdrive Pro, until the day comes, and we can finally get a real cart in our hands.

Re: "I Know Some People Don't Like This" - Final Fight MD's Latest Project Uses GenAI

Exerion76

First, I wish he would focus on finishing Final Fight. And second, I'd rather have midi, over some crappy CD music.
About the AI, if it was just temp music, sure, but on the finished product, he really should add real music. I bet there's a bunch of people, making music for homebrew games, who would be happy to make some for this game as well.
GenAI, really does sound generic.
And after a while you hear the same stuff being used over and over again.

Re: "Definitely Not Created By AI" - How An Innocent Conker Celebration Drew Rare Into A GenAI Debate

Exerion76

The internet have become flooded with Ai slop.
And it's sad when human artists, are now being questioned if their artwork is real or not.
I just wish that this kind of Ai would just die already.

The band Frontline, have made a new video, that is fully Ai, including the bandmembers. Even parts of the music, sounds Ai generated, as the singer doesn't sound like that in real life anymore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXcuxwCnMK0

It's just gonna get worse and worse...
