Same here.
Don't understand why they went with Kiefer, as I can barely remember any dialogue from him.
Kojima or Konami probably had a hard on, for "24" at the time.
Played about 60% of the game, until I took a break, and never got back to it. 😅 Became too repetitive, just like most open-world games. When it comes to the story, I only remember the opening. Metal Gear Solid 1, will remain my favorite in the series.
Wasn't the console supposed to render games in higher resolutions? Because what we see in this video (due to that aliasing flicker), seems to be the same low res as usual?
I'm getting that "Quick, fake a video now!!" feeling from this 🤣
Oh well, guess we'll find out soon...or in 2027-2028.
Back in September 92, I had seen Super Mario World in action, but didn't feel the rush to upgrade to the SNES. Until I walked into the store a couple of days later, and got to experience Super Castlevania IV. It was jawdropping, and the music so damn epic, like I never had heard from any game on my previous consoles and computers. I ended up buying a console and the game, that same afternoon.
Still today, it's one of my favorite games of all times, and my favorite in the series.
@Ristar24 Your old tapes will probably work fine. I had a forgotten box of tapes, that had been sitting in the attic of my parents house, over 30 years. Through cold winters and summer heatwaves. And when I tested them, all of them still worked, with no load errors.
Those tapes are much more durable, than we thought. The tape drives, might need a new belt, but that is an easy fix. Give them a try, if you still have a working C64 👍😀
Still today I replay those Activision games, on the 2600. Enduro and Beamrider are great additions to the collection.
I hope the release a "imagic" collection as well. Which was made up of the other half of those amazing 2600 programmer's, that left Atari, to form their own company. Atari own their catalogue now, so shouldn't be hard to license from them.
Comment sections are so "fun" to read these days. As if annoying fanboy wars aren't enough, we also have to kill the mood with politics? I miss gaming magazines of the 80s-90s. Full focus on gaming, and none of the industry drama.
Cool. But I wish it was bigger. Maybe they'll release a full size model, if this sells good enough. Good choice using OLED, as it's the only modern display, that can somewhat replicate the look. My good old old Vectrex still works great, but might still pick this up, at sale.
The first game I ever played on Atari ST. Played it on a demo unit, and ended up buying both the game and the computer. Still one of my favorite games on the ST.
Thanks for the info, now I really wished, that Capcom and Konami would have made plenty of games for it, in the 80:s. Imagine what Castlevania, Contra, Gradius, Mega Man etc, could have looked like, on the 7800.
Definitely better than the NES port.
I love to play ports on different consoles.
If I wanna play the arcade version, then there are "billions" of other choices to do so.
Wonder what would have happened, if the US videogame crash didn't happen, and the 7800 was released in 1984, as original intended.
And if it had more recent arcade ports, from the era, instead of just releasing yet another bunch of ports of Asteroids, Centipede and Ms Pac Man.
Commando was amazing on the 7800, yet another one, beating the NES version.
Same with Ikari Warriors (except the music)
Would love to see more new arcade ports for the 7800.
This have been the worst decade so far, in my lifetime. The world is a complete mess now. Can't even escape the current madness, in comment sections on a retro gaming site...
Bought the game on Steam, and have been enjoying it on my Steam Deck. But I also got the rom, and use it my Mega Everdrive Pro, as I wanted to play it on original hardware NOW. And I also pre-ordered the deluxe box, on Switch, from Japan. And I will also buy the physical Mega Drive cart, next year. Hopefully we get the option to buy one from Japan, and not forced to go through Limited Run...
This is the best shmup, ever made for the Mega Drive, and one of the best overall, on any systems. I hope this sells good enough, so they can make more games.
Would love a Vinyl of the soundtrack as well. One of the rare examples, of a game that actually lives up to the hype. It was worth the wait.
Was watching some gameplay from new Spectrum Next games, and they just look like typical modern homebrews. No old-school Spectrum feel at all. The limitations of the ZX Spectrum, and the color clash, is what made those games so charming. I'll just stick with my "The Spectrum" instead.
Graphics looks pretty nice, but the gameplay didn't impress at all, even though it's early in development. Sure ain't no Earthion. Imagine paying 300 euros, for this on a NEO GEO cart...
Yeah, "Rastan" still have problems with the music. Same with "Darius Extra Version" . I got myself a used OSSC, and sold both my Mega SG and Super NT (which also had issues with some games), and went back to original hardware. And since they don't fix all issues, before they abandon their product and moves on to something else, I won't be getting another Analogue console. I got a RGB modded N64 instead, with a Everdrive 64 on the way.
The only Analogue console I'm keeping, for now, is the Pocket.
If Nintendo didn't have a stranglehold on Konami and the other third party developers, back in the 80:s, I would have loved to have seen what exclusive versions of Castlevania, Contra and Gradius, would have looked like on Master System, with the more powerful hardware.
Just look at these early homebrew WIP demos, of TMNT and Castlevania on Master System, almost looking like 16bit games.
I think the "Boomer Shooter" genre, have become a bit oversaturated now.
Love these games, but even I'm feeling a bit burned out now. I'm still gonna give this one a try though.
The owner should replace a lot of the games, for real classics. Watched a tour of the arcade, and there is so much space wasted, on all those light gun and driving games. Does he really need multiple gun games, in the same series, like Time Crisis?
Too little variety in there.
Must be more enthusiasts over there, that could join forces with him, running the arcade?
@PinballBuzzbro
There's plenty of variety in modern beat em ups. You got TMNT, Power Rangers, Toxic Crusaders, Terrifier, Fight n Rage etc.
Mutants, robots, ninjas, aliens. we got them all 😁
Cool, even though it feels a bit like "cheating" by using a Pi. But except for the "tech demo" feel of the project, would you still wanna play Doom, in 20fps and ultra low resolution 😁
And I don't know if I trust that cart, to not fry my console. This is LGR after all 😂

There were plenty of these kind of puzzle games, being released on the NES, during those last years.

Just what we needed, even more ways to play Space Invaders and Asteroids...

Tried the demo.
I you loved the original, you might like it, if not, don't waste your time. Looks and plays like a flash or mobile game.
Had the original on my Amiga CD32, but got bored after 30 minutes, and went back to playing Axelay on my SNES.

Re: "Please Support Us" Pleads Yuzo Koshiro As Pirated Earthion ROM Appears Online

They are still doing some tweaking to the game, that is not only emulator related.
"Earthion Version 2.0.1 Patch Notes
Fixed issue of subweapons becoming unusable
Fixed issue of subweapons occasionally not displaying correctly
Fixed issue of game freezing after inputting password
Fixed issue of sound effects not playing after selecting Continue
Adjusted enemy bullets to be more easily visible
Adjusted three pixels in the second half of Stage 2
Start can now be pressed when selecting Continue
Can skip Countdown by pressing Start (Only in Automatic Mode)
Added 2 more Challenge Modes"
