Re: Vectrex Mini Is The Next Micro Console You'll Need To Own

Exerion76

Cool.
But I wish it was bigger. Maybe they'll release a full size model, if this sells good enough.
Good choice using OLED, as it's the only modern display, that can somewhat replicate the look.
My good old old Vectrex still works great, but might still pick this up, at sale.

Re: Review: Tiger-Heli (Atari 7800) - There Are Better Ways To Play, But That's Hardly The Point

Exerion76

Definitely better than the NES port.
I love to play ports on different consoles.
If I wanna play the arcade version, then there are "billions" of other choices to do so.
Wonder what would have happened, if the US videogame crash didn't happen, and the 7800 was released in 1984, as original intended.
And if it had more recent arcade ports, from the era, instead of just releasing yet another bunch of ports of Asteroids, Centipede and Ms Pac Man.

Commando was amazing on the 7800, yet another one, beating the NES version.
Same with Ikari Warriors (except the music)

Would love to see more new arcade ports for the 7800.

@SlangWon
They are still doing some tweaking to the game, that is not only emulator related.

Adjusted three pixels in the second half of Stage 2

Start can now be pressed when selecting Continue

Can skip Countdown by pressing Start (Only in Automatic Mode)

Added 2 more Challenge Modes"

Bought the game on Steam, and have been enjoying it on my Steam Deck. But I also got the rom, and use it my Mega Everdrive Pro, as I wanted to play it on original hardware NOW.
And I also pre-ordered the deluxe box, on Switch, from Japan. And I will also buy the physical Mega Drive cart, next year.
Hopefully we get the option to buy one from Japan, and not forced to go through Limited Run...

This is the best shmup, ever made for the Mega Drive, and one of the best overall, on any systems. I hope this sells good enough, so they can make more games.

Would love a Vinyl of the soundtrack as well.
One of the rare examples, of a game that actually lives up to the hype. It was worth the wait.

Re: The FPGA N64 Analogue 3D Has Been Delayed (Again)

Exerion76

@slider1983

Yeah, "Rastan" still have problems with the music.
Same with "Darius Extra Version" .
I got myself a used OSSC, and sold both my Mega SG and Super NT (which also had issues with some games), and went back to original hardware. And since they don't fix all issues, before they abandon their product and moves on to something else, I won't be getting another Analogue console.
I got a RGB modded N64 instead, with a Everdrive 64 on the way.

The only Analogue console I'm keeping, for now, is the Pocket.

Re: Here's What The NES Titles Contra & Castlevania II Could Have Sounded Like On The Sega Master System

Exerion76

If Nintendo didn't have a stranglehold on Konami and the other third party developers, back in the 80:s, I would have loved to have seen what exclusive versions of Castlevania, Contra and Gradius, would have looked like on Master System, with the more powerful hardware.

Just look at these early homebrew WIP demos, of TMNT and Castlevania on Master System, almost looking like 16bit games.

Re: Arcade Enters "Survival Mode" As It Seeks To Avoid Closure

Exerion76

The owner should replace a lot of the games, for real classics. Watched a tour of the arcade, and there is so much space wasted, on all those light gun and driving games. Does he really need multiple gun games, in the same series, like Time Crisis?
Too little variety in there.

Must be more enthusiasts over there, that could join forces with him, running the arcade?

Re: Review: Super Pocket Neo Geo Edition - Unlike SNK's Original, This Handheld Won't Break The Bank

Exerion76

It's hard getting excited by yet another Neo Geo release, when the game has been available on almost everything, the last couple of generations, and easily emulated, on MUCH better handhelds. The screen is just too damn small, at least for the shmups, where the bullets will be near impossible to see
Though, it sure is the best looking Super Pocket, so far.

Expecting them to release a Neo Geo Alpha as well, after this.

Re: This Man Now "Owns Commodore", But His Use Of Generative AI Has Some Fans Worried

Exerion76

I know I'm gonna sound like a grumpy old partypooper.
But even as an old Commodore fan, I don't have any hopes for this.
You just can't recreate the magic, that was Commodore, in the 80:s.
The current owners of Atari, have succeeded, by keeping it pretty small scale, and on the indie side of gaming. And they own so many classic IP:s, that they can make new games of etc. But Commodore made hardware, so what's the plan here? He doesn't seem to be planning any re-releases of classic hardware, but instead putting the name on new stuff.
So is he gonna make the same mistake, as the previous Atari owner, with the failed new VCS, but as a Commodore PC, that will just be a random mini PC with the Commodore name and OS in it? Is he gonna try to make watches and flip phones? I know it's his dream owning Commodore, but what's gonna happen, when reality sets in, and comes crashing down on him?
I don't think it will be another Amico styled mess, but I also don't think this will turn out a success for him, and the ones involved.
Hope he just keeps it low scale, and don't try to go big with it. And how much longer, before this oversaturated "retro nostalgia" bubble bursts?

And then the damn use of AI...
