Namco's 1996 arcade sequel, Ace Driver Victory Lap, is coming to consoles for the first time as part of the Arcade Archives range.
Hamster, the creator of Arcade Archives, released the first game in the F1-themed series, 1994's Ace Driver, on modern platforms back in May of this year, but has now revealed it will also be bringing the second game in the series to consoles as well, later this week. Similar to its predecessor, the sequel was built for Namco's System 22 hardware, and was designed for eight-person multiplayer through linking together different machines.
This new version, however, will be limited to 1 player on Arcade Archives platforms (Nintendo Switch and PS4) and 4 players on the other Arcade Archives 2 machines (Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S).
Ace Driver Victory Lap sees players take their position behind the wheel of a Formula One racing car, with the follow-up introducing a new championship mode, as well as new courses and redesigned vehicles.
As mentioned in our last piece on Ace Driver, Bandai Namco released a third game in the series, Ace Driver 3: Final Turn, in 2008. This, again, was another arcade exclusive.
Here's a summary of what to expect from the brand new release:
"ACE DRIVER VICTORY LAP" is a racing game released by NAMCO LIMITED (current Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.) in 1996.
The hit arcade racer ACE DRIVER returns with more speed, more excitement, and more competition than ever before!

As always with Hamster's reissues, this new version will come with bonuses such as online leaderboards, new modes, and "nostalgic" filters. The Arcade Archives version will cost $14.99, while the Arcade Archives 2 version will be priced at $16.99. Both will be available to buy tomorrow (Thursday, October 22nd, 2026).
