Great interview for a great set of remasters. I'm not the biggest fan of remakes as of late but Skunkape has really set the standard for how to update old classics for the modern day, making changes that actually add to the experience and even offering the originals as a nice win for games preservation. There's the odd pedantic jerk still kvetching over the 10 outdated jokes cut out from season 1, but in the grand scheme of things, that remaster as well the other two are the definitive way to experience Sam & Max's best adventures.

I just wish the design was less generic. Why would you make a handheld version of one of the coolest looking computers ever and not bother to replicate the things that made it cool

@Sketcz Bubsy Visits the James Turrell Retrospective, I think it was called.

Y'know the sad thing is there's potential for a good Bubsy game but it seems no one wants to put in anymore than the bare minimum.

Not really. I don't really have a nostalgic connection to a lot of older games, so I play them more for historical purposes; experiencing what those before us played and appreciating what the developers were able to accomplish at the time with the tech they were given.

Great read. Hog Wild definitely exudes a level of Looney Tunes energy that just works with Crash. Makes it all the more frustrating that they screwed it up in the remake.

I'm probably the only one who considers the PSP version the most definitive and that is a cross I am willing to bear

@Poodlestargenerica The remasters of the Sam & Max Telltale games feature controller support, so you can steer your character and highlight items more easily.

Oh dear god YES. I've never been into these sort of all-in-one emulator handhelds but if all takes to sway me on them is to make a handheld out of a SEGA pad then so be it

If that "must-requested feature" isn't being consistent in stock then what's the point

Anyways, I've never really lost sleep over not having a Portal 3. Unlike Half-Life, which only seems to get new games when Valve can find some way to showcase innovative game design, Portal has the benefit of having started and ended strong.

Great read. Curse isn't my favorite Monkey Island--not even in my top 3--but I can't deny that it had an impact on those who first played it all those years ago(for better/worse).

Genuine question, but what is the point of the Evercade? Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who's 100% into the Playdate.

I love how some people are going all "what's the point of this???" as if the idea that people just want a fun device that plays fun, unique games is unfathomable.

as for me, I'm very excited for Playdate! It's got my interest piqued in a way that hasn't been rivaled since the 3DS back in 2011. That was the most excited I've been for a game system!
