@Hexapus haha are we from the same place? There was also another corner store a little farther out from where I lived, near a HS, that had an MVS and Darkstalkers at one point.
I remember the first time playing OG Fatal Fury at a local theatre. Controls felt so stiff compared to SF2 (which was well into Turbo at the time I found this, my first MVS cab), the two plane system confused me, and the CPU was HARD. I was blown away by the character designs. No machines with FF2 ever popped up in my area though, and I wouldn’t be able to play it until it was released for the SNES. Special, I’ve never played at all. And boy was I a fan of the Masami Obari-designed animes! FF/Garou has a special, niche part of my young heart.
Lolol his solution is PC EMULATION? Ain’t NOBODY trying to buy a custom PC in this dumpster fire of an enthusiast building market. Please please PLEASE, nobody buy this.
Funnily enough, Zelda 2 WAS my first foray into the franchise. Having been used to SMB, it felt sorta natural to play. The first LoZ threw me off quite a bit, as it was my first pure top-down game.
Unless you’re, say, a speed runner, 100% accuracy isn’t all that important. I enjoy retro gaming immensely, and everything out there to do so is more than satisfactory.
This one caused me some crazy hype when I bumped into it. Anytime someone does something crazy on any 16-bit platform that would’ve been nigh impossible in the 90s, I’m absolutely floored. Really excited to see where this goes and how other devs in the scene will continue to push the limits on the consoles of that era.
David Liu has some of the best art out there, fusing retro and modern styles into anime perfection. Man, if a new AVP ever drops under his art direction, it’s an instant buy for me. Took the bus almost daily to drop soooo many quarters when the original came out.
@Mrtj18 came here to say pretty much the same thing. SSF2T on Sega CD would’ve been huge. It’s a hefty order, but then again someone ported Real Bout to the Genesis, so I imagine it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
I wonder if there were any sort of prototype builds of any games for this version of the SNES. Though if there has been, probably got deleted/destroyed.
I remember seeing this in EGM and I couldn’t really get hyped since it didn’t do 3D. They really went all in on FMV for this. Surprised not even any 2D fighter arcade ports were released.

Re: Gallery: "Fatal Fury Is My Street Fighter II" - Leafing Through Bitmap Books' Ultimate Guide To SNK's One-On-One Slugfest
@Hexapus I knew ONE rich kid in junior high with a Neo Geo. Played Samurai Shodown at his house once.
Other than that, I did get to play it pretty regularly, thanks to a local corner store having an MVS cab.
Re: Check Out Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood Running On The Sega Genesis / Mega Drive
@Deuteros “ Next you'll be telling me Super Streetfighter 2 Turbo cannot possibly be converted to the Megadrive, but the SNES can handle Akuma!”
Hey man, don’t say such things around me! I’m the guy that’s been secretly hoping for SSF2 Turbo homebrew ROM on Genesis or SNES for years 😆
