@leogames except it isn't disingenuous, the vast majority don't care, and being selective just makes you look worse. You dig deep enough and companies do questionable things all the time, that electric car you drive? it a Tesla by any chance? you support Musk?

the point is it literally never ends. Me personally, I'm pretty tired of it. I don't care. & my partner worked as a nurse in the UAE for years so don't bother coming at me, I know the state of play over there, it is what it is, I'm just not gonna talk about it. I have enough to worry about without retro gaming being politicised as well as almost everything else.

I want one. No, really. I WANT ONE.

It's an interesting idea, well, to me anyways, but Composite? In 2025? I mean, I get what they're going for but that'll limit the HELL out of the interest this gets.

@MARl0 that was my snap reaction too. As an aside, I think ModRetro really missed a trick not announcing anything about their M64 after that showing at that convention, they could have stolen a LARGE chunk of Analogues' thunder for sure...

I played this quite a bit at Butlins Bognor Regis, couldn't remember the name until now.

@lemonjellydude I recall a European company were gonna put out an ST but the people who made the C64 Mini/Max sent them a cease-&-Desist. Lairds Lair covered it. They didn't say why exactly but there must have been a good reason, surely?

I'd like a Jaguar+ or Lynx +, I assume the ST from RetroGames could still be a thing, I just hope it isn't a fake-out.

I actually had one of these as well, it was absolutely naff. Followed it from inception to release, it had some nice ideas but it was a mess. And 'Colors' never came out either. That was the game with the most potential being worked on, probably too much ambition.

I really wish the comments on modretro articles didnt devolve into Palmer Luckey. I know the two are inseparable etc. but can we concentrate on the actual article? Modretro isn't JUST one guy.

@Bod2019 this is my line of thinking. I'm always intrigued by stuff i either wanted or missed, and I think the Vectrex is kinda neat.

Don't really know too much about the Vectrex, certainly heard of it but it seems to be pretty niche. Thoughts, anyone? I'm curious.

Here's my take: Palmer Luckey might be very divisive, but who isn't guilty of questionable business decisions over the years? Few companies are totally innocent. Im not excusing or dismissing BUT it ain't just him involved in Modretro, a lot of other people are involved in the hardware and games releases for the chromatic alone, and is it fair to dismiss their work due to the face of the company? Its a thorny issue.

I saw this announcement last night, it seems pretty neat but I've got the full fat C64 from Retro Games Ltd that they launched a few years ago. Its an interesting device regardless, any takers?

Yeah, im definitely in the 'much steeper than I expected' camp. Its incredibly niche and for the price you could get an AYA NEO AM which does more. It'll have backers but it's very pricey for it's niche.

What's with the negativity? I mean a couple of comments about getting NONE of my help/without my help? Have I missed something? As far as it goes, I need to see more, and yeah, antstream/evercade have this sort of niche sewn up, so yeah, what's the angle?

I'm intrigued, since the Chromatic was so good AND they are releasing new games for it. Interested to see if they release new games for this new 64 console....

@avcrypt Same here. It's a very VERY niche product outside Japan. It'd ruin my finances and be little more than a toy/curio for me too.

I'd still buy it though. in a heartbeat.

Do love me some pang. The modern version on Xbox is decent, but the OG games are still the best.

Ok, so, for someone who doesn't have a scooby about this sort of thing, how does it work? I use anbernic stuff & have a retroid pocket 5, so I understand emulators, Retroarch, roms etc but how do these kinds of thing work exactly?

@Dehnus yeah, I've been watching a few YouTube videos on the history/legacy of the jaguar. It's fascinating actually.

I'd really like a Lynx+ or a Jaguar+ but I read somewhere the Jag was not really possible (something about the emulator they were using is buggy and they don't want to pay the programmer to fix it or something?). I do recall, Retro Games LTD asking a company to stop work on an Atari ST model rerelease/reimagining or something as well, Lairds Lair talked about it. Maybe they'll do an ST?

Not sure if others have pointed this out, but I will: I'm UK-based, and was all for buying into this as a gift from my partner for Christmas, until I saw what they're asking for in terms of shipping. Made my eyes water...

If they ever do a new one, I'd like Bluetooth and a backlit screen, the rest is solid and still quite likeable.

Perhaps ironically, this went down to £266 on Amazon, so I got one as a late birthday present, so far it's pretty slick but feels very delicate (for reference I've been using an Anbernic RG-Arc up until now, and that feels like a toy in comparison). It turned up today!

@ellstormo I've had one for over a year now, & I recommend it as a curio, its not, at least for me, a 'serious' handheld but it's very unique and very neat, the games are generally quirky but there is a LOT to like.

I'm still slightly intrigued, but I cancelled my pre-order about a day before getting this email, it just doesn't fit my taste as a gamer, it'd be a curio under my TV that I'd power up every once in a blue moon to show it off mayeb.

I think it'll be a console, probably with a port for evercade cartridges, and 4 controller ports, Bluetooth for wireless controllers, and maybe wi-fi for a download store or more likely online multiplayer.

I just can't see them making the current one obsolete, or the cartridge library, I've had mine since launch and they're pretty cool.
