The game is made by Chinese mobile firm IGG.COM. If I were to guess, a producer there has some times to SNK's former Chinese owners, or possibly they're current Arabic ones. As for why it specifically says 97, I believe it's because that game holds some kind ubiquity among Chinese KOF players. Whether because of it's Advance system, or simply because some unknown economic factors made it extremely prominint in Chinese NEO-GEOS
That thing is a rights hell. Especially in Japan. Good thing Paramount actually had Konami make physical copies. Which is more than can be said for some Konami games now (seriously, Cygni on Xbox gets a physical, but Contra we have to hoop jump with LRG?)
They've already confirmed it's not Metal Slug as they're already working on two Metal Slug projects internally. Current best guesses are SNK's puzzle IP, Puzzle Link, Puzzle Tsunagete Pon, Puzzled, or Quiz Big Criminal Investigation.
What I want to know is where they're getting that "more than 200 SNK-branded game content" number from, cause my count barely goes above 170.
Well that's one way to find out Atari got Zapper and Weird Dreams back in that Embracer sized haul. 2 more for the list! And I appreciate him going to bat for Embracer. I get that he has to keep relationships with them pleasant due to the partnership with Plaion, but going back and explaining the overall crapfest we're all going through, and how it's been more hits than misses, while still aknowledging mistakes were made, is how you can tell he genuiningly thinks Embracer has an unfair reputation.
@Daniel36 Piko never makes sequels or follow ups to the abandonware they get. They just license them to stuff like this. They're the sadder, but admittiadly much more stable version of what Embracer was originally founded to do. Before they over extended on Lord of the Rings and Eidos, and now everyone wants to kill them.

Dang, Jakks?! That's how you know SoR is mainstream again; when you can buy merch at Target!
Re: How Kasumi Ninja's Angus MacGregor Found A New Lease Of Life
I wonder who currently has the rights to Kasumi Ninja and Angus, cause it certainly isn't Atari

Re: N64 Emulation Comes To Evercade Via Piko Interactive Collection 4
That makes 84 confirmed IP sitting with Piko. Still I don't even know anymore hangning up in the air between them, Ziggurat, Atari, and Warner Bros https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uHp_wqa1tNWa8DpeRRH-KGp3rSU4fmYLtIr86Z7f7og/edit?pli=1#gid=639918701
