Re: Atari Is Open To Pitches For A New Bubsy Game

Blast16

There’s so much ‘tude in this comment section, so much so that I thought it was 1993 😜

I played the heck out of Bubsy on Genesis and wanted to like it so much more. For as much of an attempted clone as it was, I still enjoyed it. Honestly I think it’s better than a good handful of the mascot clone games of the era—this doesn’t make it a good game though lol

Re: Could MiSTer Rival MARS FPGA Be The New King Of Retro Gaming?

@samuelvictor I have a large console retro collection, and I could definitely sell a few hundred games and still have lots left to enjoy with my cartridges and CD games. That would easily fund an FPGA beast!

I hope that before too long, we get more or less a ready-to-use all-in-one retro FPGA box. I will circle back to MISTer and see where it is; I know it’s gotten a lot of developer support.

@Exerion76 If Analogue makes the Pocket again I may look into this option, though I will not use it handheld mode so I've held off. I'm only interested in hooking up to a TV display so that's probably why I've tried to exercise some control, but it sounds extremely capable and kind of an all-in-one... I have to say I like the dedicated SNES, Genesis, NES, and Duo I have coming, but knowing all the cores that are available for it... that's pretty dang impressive.

But I don't buy handhelds so I don't have cart games to use either, or as strong of a nostalgia for most of the handheld stuff. Definitely tons of great games in those libraries though!

@samuelvictor I agree—if the FPGA tech can do the job of my old hardware, I will pay up for something that can do it all.

Through the years I've acquired a bunch of hardware and many, many games, and I currently have a couple Pi 3b+ (one in a 4-player arcade cabinet), the Mega Sg, Super Nt, Retro AVS, modded Xbox, plus all my original hardware, some modded for HDMI, RGB, etc. I have Framemeisters, an OSSC, a handful of console cart Everdrives, USB adapters to use OG controllers on newer devices, new RetroBit SEGA controllers for new and original hardware (they are AWESOME btw).

I have tried and enjoyed it all except a dedicated gaming PC or a MISTer (i'm tempted by these mini PCs on Amazon!), and have enjoyed the journey of playing games I only could have dreamt of as a child/teen. I'm certainly a collector and enthusiast, but I play my games and I don't want to have to fuss around too much, though I do buy new hardware for the fun of it. I have a Analogue Duo on pre-order, and am watching the Pi 5 and this MARS FPGA to see what they can do and how user friendly they are. I am not a tinkerer beyond setting my video options and hot keys. I was and am a console gamer all the way. I want it to just work lol.

This is very interesting… I’ll be keeping an eye on it. I’ve considered a mister a handful of times but as was mentioned above, I just want to play. I like adjusting options like scan lines and stuff, but in general I don’t want to tinker all that much. Having an all in one FPGA for arcade and 8-16-32-64-128 gaming would be sweeeet. Everything up through Dreamcast would be amazing to see all in one box.

And the soul still burns!

Re: Sega Forever Games Are Being Delisted From iOS And Android

@Daggot if anyone were to buy Sega, I’d hope most for Nintendo. They’re in a healthier financial place now with Switch and I think their IP fits well on Nintendo consoles.

Now, if they could just stop releasing a sonic game every fall, that’d be a nice pattern to break…

Re: The Raspberry Pi 5 Is Launching Next Month

I was just thinking about upgrading from my 3B+ models. I have two, one in an arcade cab and another as a portable console. I was thinking about getting a 4 this fall because of Run Ahead, but I guess I'll wait.

Very exciting news!

A new show, new jackets and watches…

Any NEW Castlevania GAMES coming? A collection for Nintendo consoles containing Rondo, Symphony, Chronicles (X68000), ReBirth? The DS and 3DS releases? I want them all on Switch cards! Fans are ready to spend the money…please make it happen!!!

Re: Poll: Handheld Or TV - How Do You Play Retro Games?

Blast16

I use a TV for retro games. I have a 32” that is nice for 4:3 games, and sometimes play on the arcade cabinet too.

I prefer my original hardware on a CRT, but I also have the RetroUSB AVS, Analogue Mega SG, Super Nt, pi3, modded Wii and Xbox with CoinOps for a mix of new and old displays.

Re: Best Sega Dreamcast Games Of All Time

Is Dynamite Cop not on this list? Also, Hydro Thunder is an arcade port standout. Dreamcast is the last classic retro system in my mind, and it’s also one that closed the arcade / console gap. The hardware was amazing at launch - Soul Calibur and Power Stone were absolutely next level and I remember many fun hangouts and lots of screaming!!
