you are confusing the terms. look up liberal vs left. I'm not making this stuff up, I'm sorry that you haven't come across the distinction before βοΈ but there's still time to learn.
If the Tariffs would help a damn thing, I'd support them. they will not. it's just a way to raise taxes on the American people without having to say you are raising taxes on the American people, meanwhile allowing corporations and the very rich to continue getting away with murder. so, good, they aren't being allowed π
Incidentally I agree with @GrimLocke, there is no left in mainstream American politics, only a corporate party masquerading as "the left."
if you think the Democrats are objectively "left" (not just compared to the Republicans) you don't really know enough about politics or history frankly πβοΈ
of course it's complex. I've never heard anyone ever say that all the world's problems are because Trump's a mean guy. π
the world would still be f*cked up without Trump but he has helped nothing and no one but himself. his plans don't accomplish the bill of goods that he sold his voters on, never will, besides the terror and pain he promised to inflict on the "others."
they are admitting now that the tariffs have increased prices, but they are acting like it's just smart business. π and in this case when I say "they," I mean these same users in another article's comments.
"The fact that Commodore is just saying this now means they are using it as a scapegoat rather than the truth."
that actually doesn't follow. it might mean that but you are speculating. you have no idea what attempts were made to "adapt" to this policy since the announcement you speak of.
In other words you show your hand when you jump to dear leader's defense over nothing, in every relevant thread. βοΈ
I noticed this and I was gonna bring it up. Nothing to add I guess except that they pretty much screwed up the entire project with this.
(also couldn't they have just used a slightly larger screen and then masked off the unused portions of the screen, kinda like a 2ds? there's something insanely wrong about playing asteroids on a 9:16 screen π)
(incidentally my friend has a Bally Professional Arcade and it is excellent. Dog Patch should be ported to every console, along with that crazy controller. πππ)
why someone hasn't made a wonderswan clone handheld for "flipping to TATE" or even emulating ds in a pinch, (not to mention actual wonderswan games π ) is beyond me.
even someone who has never heard of wonderswan could appreciate the appeal of that design π
we have some similar thoughts and dispositions regarding game controllers π
IMO, the N64 layout would work just as well for Sega games, and better, given that the buttons are easier (for me) to keep track of than the typical Sega layout (of which I actually am a fan, tbh, though it's a flawed concept imo, basically taking what works ergonomically for a "whole hand" and shrinking it down to one thumb)
I think the difference is, B + A are the primordial pair, impossible to forget, and the "diamond" shape is iconic, and memorable because they graft to cardinal directions, even being used in-game as directional controls sometimes. the two of them right next to each other gives me plenty of geometry and also muscle memory as it were to lean on, almost like a little "memory Palace" right there on the controller.
PS - I played through Diablo 3 on switch during pandemic lockdown on a GameCube style controller and it was GLORIOUS, having mapped my different spells and moves to the GC con's many distinctly shaped buttons. just perfect π
I think it depends on how much "DIY" style gaming you've done on "alternative" devices π I got kinda addicted to trying different controllers for different games over the years, using the flexibility that emulation can offer.
I've had similar thoughts about the OG Xbox controller(s,) they were a really great design on paper, regardless if you like the overall execution. Xbox 360 con has always been far more uncomfortable than those designs, imo, with its big handles and tiny little cramped top + shoulders
anyway I'm rambling but I love this conversation βοΈβ€οΈπ
personally, I love the N64 layout in particular, with the A + B buttons being larger and more prominent, while still being "in line" with the other 4. it's so much easier mentally for me to play a game in this "NES + SNES" layout, vs a more "six identical buttons" or even "3+3" Saturn style 6 button arrangement.
the "stick + dpad on the left, 2 + 4 buttons on the right" setup is the most versatile and best layout for pre-twin stick gaming. I can't imagine a pre-ps2 console that you couldn't comfortably map onto this arrangement (bar Ape Escape et al)π
I've never even heard of this game (somewhat rare for me, given the era tbh) but just reading about it and looking at the screenshots is making me feel very nostalgic! so I guess I gotta play it!
I've sometimes dreamed of playing N64 games with a Saturn 3d Pad. βοΈ I still think it would be sick for some games, like smash or maybe even fzerox.
"As noted in the comments on the original article, the actual Mega Drive / Genesis theming of this device is very subtle. So subtle you could miss it entirely."
IDK when I see 6 face buttons and these colors there is only one games company that comes to mind...
(I seriously wonder what is "subtle" about the MD theme, here... Is the association I pointed out just not strong enough in younger people's minds? What other games company has even attempted a 6 face button pack in controller? What other games company is more associated with black blue and grey? Really curious that numerous people in the comments have echoed the sentiment in the article.)
"This includes a new custom power board which allows for USB-C charging (solving the issue of constantly having to find new double AA batteries"
βοΈ I will never understand why, for decades, people have been pretending that rechargable AA batteries don't exist.
PS - they are actually better because
1. They are cheap
2. They are widely available
3. They are non proprietary
4. They are easily user replaceable
5. You can charge a set while playing and swap them out when the batteries drain. π
Also, being able to just snap a quick pic of the password screen with your phone was a revelation for me. π Agree with you 100%, though I've had remarkable luck with my batteries in my carts, some of which are from my childhood in the 80s/90s π
I don't think you are wrong, Tom. It's a personal preference of mine, and I don't expect you to remake your entire approach in my image, by any means.
