I’m hoping Konami puts together a PCE library package for Switch. Some HuCard and CD games would be just what I need on the Oled model. Of course if they don’t do it I’ll eventually install retroarch on it after the Switch is no longer current generation
@Axelay71 I imported a Duo R years ago and it’s one of my favorite possessions. I use a PS1 joypad Joypad Converter and a PS1 to SNES converter to get my wireless 8BitDo controllers working with it, lol. Not sure if more converter options have come out for PCE in the years since, but I would guess not.
@-wc- Really. You don’t want a screen any bigger 5” for a truly pocketable device. I think it’s the perfect size. You can’t fit a steam deck into the Vita for example. But I can understand people wanting to play full sized PC and consoles games anywhere, it’s just no my idea of portable gaming
@RupeeClock well it’s still a privilege and in some cases a miracle to have licensed access to some of these old games. Because of that I’d say there is some onus to publish the games as widely and as fairly as possible to do justice for aged software properties
Manufacturing sounds like an uphill battle that’s not changing anytime soon. And without substantial IP, you’re pretty much selling tech demos...which might focus test ok but will bury it in the market next to anything else..
I’m commenting because of the picture of the Japanese MD arcade power stick. Imported one of those years ago, still one of my favorite controllers. And the 3 button version is just so cool looking
It looks like they are trying to stick all the gimmicky game hardware concepts of the past 15 years into one piece of plastic. That tells me that whatever niche group of buyers they get up front will probably not be playing this thing for long after the newness is gone, and it’ll be thrown in the closet and forgotten
When the day comes that either my NES, PCE or Genesis dies, then something like this would be a consideration. I’m also not fancy, I use composite input CRTs, and from what I’ve seen composite is never a priority output for FPGA devices. So in that way original hardware is still simpler for me
Bought Musha as a kid back in the day. Was really my first shootemup and it was unlike anything my friends were playing (Mario). Still have it to this day.
Hardly any arcade machines left still in their natural habitat (meaning they’re still in place since at least the 90’s). The last one I played was Tetris at an old laundromat. It’s a great feeling to find a machine still in its old spot
@flummerfelt ya Death adder is a deep cut for Arcade 1up. It’s definitely the opposite of TMNT and going for the niche, enthusiast crowd. Their first product that’s really caught my attention
I’m genuinely surprised to see Revenge of Death Adder make it’s first comeback as one of these cabinets. But not surprised because Sega today seems distant from its roots, very sadly
@Kalmaro if you’ve been around long enough (like the days of James Newton), you’ll know that Nintendolife is also secretly Segalife. Not really a surprise for a UK based site
I bought the retro bit 6-button, excellent controller with 10’ cord. Just waiting to see if a mod comes out to solve any issues with regional exclusives!
@AtlanteanMan that’s reasonable for most people with a modern setup who won’t bother with tech like this. But some will have a retro setup with original hardware and CRT monitors and will want something that can take the load off their aging Sega CD but still be able to use analogue connections/their original hardware mods/original controllers and peripherals with the Sega CD while staying accurate or close enough. It’s really for the enthusiast not the general retro gamer like yourself presumably

Re: How Namco Helped PlayStation Win Its First Console War
Good read. Certainly adds context to all the 90’s namco marketing I still have floating in my brain
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Castlevania?
Classicvania for me with bloodlines at the top of them
Re: Poll: Are Game Boy Games Still Worth Playing In 2023?
8-bit games are perfectly charming in presentation and delightfully test dexterity. Enjoy them through the lense of nostalgia or game making history
Re: Best Genesis / Mega Drive Games
I would play Wani Wani World before rainbow islands
Re: Editorial: Merry Christmas And Happy Holidays From Time Extension
This site is a beautiful existence. May ‘23 bring it good things
Re: It Looks Like We're Getting A Gaiares Reboot
That’s great news if it’s a good reboot
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 5th)
Was on an NES kick but now I’ve got the Genesis hooked up again. Alisia Dragoon was the last game I had on
Re: Feature: Memories Of The PC Engine, From The People Who Made It Sing
I would love to hear more about Red Company. They must have had talented staff.

Is it possible to get a side by side with the Vita?
Re: Intellivision Admits Its Wii-Like Amico Console May Never See Release
No more cordless phone console for family game night? Grandma’s gonna be sad.. Cancel that, Wii Sports is making its comeback, grandma rejoice
Re: Tommy Tallarico Has Stepped Down As CEO Of Intellivision
Reminds me of the old V-Tech cordless phones the family had back in the day more than anything gaming related lol
Re: Can't Get An Analogue Pocket? This Cheap And Dinky Handheld Might Plug The Gap
I’d like Retroarch to make official hardware including handhelds for their stuff
Re: Yuji Naka Killed "Dreamcast's Star Fox", Says Former Sega Producer
Well that’s too bad his management style leaves a lot to be desired. Too much of that in a business and things can go south, which they did for Sega..

Re: Gaiares Is Getting A Physical Re-Release With The Help Of The Kid Who Promoted It 31 Years Ago
No digital? That’s a very self-interested move..
Re: Hands On: The Anbernic R351V Offers A Real 'Game Boy' Vibe
Really like the look of this one. Not bought one of these since the GPD XD years ago.which has long since bit the dust. Very tempting..
Re: Hands On: Anbernic's RG300X Is A Beefed-Up Game Boy Micro That Runs Emulators
Interested in their DMG looking model
Re: We're Getting A New Shining Force Game, But Of Course There's A Catch

Re: Best Of 2020: The Unsung Genius Who Tempted Nintendo's President To Pick Up A Joypad
A good read even the second time.
Re: Sega Just Showed Off A Prototype Handheld For The First Time Ever
That’s cool, Sega. Sadly it’s cooler than most of what you do nowadays, but then we can’t all be as cool as we once were
Re: Analogue's Next FPGA Console Tackles Kanye West's Favourite System: The PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16
@cleveland124 thanks, I’ll keep that in mind as I’m still going strong with CRT technology
Re: Analogue's Next FPGA Console Tackles Kanye West's Favourite System: The PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16
Like any Analogue product, I’d like one but probably not anytime soon. And without CRT support it’s not a priority
Re: Hardware Review: Game Gear Micro - Go Home Sega, You're Drunk
The execution of this is utterly disappointing. We could have had a proper mini handheld console. Sega, you dumb head
Re: Retro-Bit Is Republishing Some Of Toaplan's Best Console Shooters In Physical Form
That’s pretty sweet. Not for me unless they can do an eShop release

Educational
Re: The RK2020 Is Another Chinese Handheld Which Aims To Play Absolutely Everything

I’ll wait for reviews but it could be essential as a backup/pack n carry device
