8bit mods do some amazing products but everything is constantly out of stock

Just watched a video and it seems to run Dreamcast and N64 fine although it doesn’t show every game or detail which games don’t run but for £80 it looks pretty good

I bought one of the switch online SNES controllers and it feels amazing compared to my original SNES controllers and that’s what it is the membranes have definitely gone in the original but for me the main problem with a SNES controller is the L and R triggers they snap where they pivot near the pin I hope someone can find a fix for that in the future as it is one of my all time favourite controllers

@KitsuneNight yeah I see what you’re saying I grew up having a C64 then an Amiga so they have a nostalgic feeling for me and there are thousands of games so I guess it would be a bit of a nightmare finding the ones you actually like

@KitsuneNight get an A500 mini there is no rabbit hole as it plays games from any Amiga system and it’s a doddle to add your own games

@Bu1ld0g yeah me too I still play the original with a negcon absolutely love it unfortunately I don’t have a ps5 and don’t intend on getting one I will stick to the original or the psp version on a ps vita just think it would be a great fit for the switch would look amazing on switch oled

I wish Namco would do a Ridge Racer collection for modern consoles all they seem to care about recently are Dragon ball z games I would be happy if they just did the psp version on switch

I preordered the exp-r with Tomb raider about 3 days ago I’m happy to wait a little longer though got some others cartridges coming later this week

I remember reading about the Nuon in Edge magazine back in the day but always thought it was vapourware I didn’t know it was actually released 😂

Looks pretty cool hope it does come to consoles I’ve been playing NBA hoopz on Dreamcast lately and been really enjoying it this looks kinda similar less sim and more arcade

Yeah there is definitely a distinct smell that all these kinda shops have cex is not as bad as say cash converters who even sell power tools all covered in mud and dirt. Gamestation used to have a similar smell I think it’s just old consoles and games and possibly some of the customers

@Poodlestargenerica seems like it’s a bit of a beast and the form factor is perfect for me I don’t know how accurate what I’ve just been reading is but it says that it can run switch games I don’t want it for that but I should think it would have no problem running anything before switch

I really wanna get a handheld capable of running Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 but I’m so confused about which one to get it seems as though 2 or 3 of these are being announced on a weekly basis maybe timeextension could do some sort of guide. I have a retroflag gpi which I’ve been so happy with but I just want something with a bit more power under the hood

@Razieluigi 100% agree on everything you said and some devs could create some outstanding music on the mega drive most Technosoft games have amazing soundtracks, Hellfire the Sonic games and streets of rage the list is endless and they definitely have their own charm which I wouldn’t ever change

That’s cool I vaguely remember seeing something about this in a magazine at the time along with the picture of Senna holding the trophy and if I remember correctly there was a cheat but for the first super Monaco gp where if you made the podium you could do a button combo and the the drivers would lift their heads off instead of a trophy

@Steel76 imagine is a name that takes me back I remember I had green beret and Rastan on c64 but yeah I think that was definitely a slogan not sure about ultimate tho doesn’t seem to flow when you say it out loud

@RossoftheRobots I originally got it to use on switch as I have a few Neo Geo games on there I updated it on 8bitdo website both the adapter and controller which took only a couple of minutes but I thought I would try it on the A500 as the button layout is similar to the cd32 layout and by chance it worked and everything functions as it should you can bring up the keyboard save your games exit to the carousel and shutdown the system using the controller so I guess it was a happy accident 😂 but I don’t use anything else on the A500 anymore

@RossoftheRobots it works really well and it’s button layout is similar to that of the cd32 and of course it’s wireless plus it has the clicky stick which makes it feel like you are using a micoswitched joystick

@BJQ1972 cool that’s good to know I really do struggle with these joysticks oh and konix speedking as well awesome joystick but pretty unusable for me

I love the look of this but the controller rules me out as a left handed gamer I would like to know more about what controllers work and function properly on it. I have the A500 mini and use the 8bitdo Neo Geo with the 8bitdo adapter 2 and it’s great works a treat on games and also manages to retain all the features of the original supplied with it

Prop cycle was great used to play it in an arcade in Blackpool they also had final furlong which was a lot of fun as well

The US versions were available in a few colours I have transparent blue black and green but yeah the European versions were just available in grey/off white . I’ve always thought since they do many colours of the console shell why not do vmu and controller shells in matching colours I had to get a black transparent controller from Japan to match my console which wasn’t cheap so if someone did a full range I’m sure there would be many people willing to purchase these

I’ve definitely noticed it but as said in the article I always assumed it was the castle in the distance but surely it would appear in later levels as you get closer perhaps someone at Konami can shed some light on it

The Dreamcast is clearly the best thing Sega ever produced the mega drive is awesome but come on even the build quality is far above anything that Sega produced and then you have the amazing library of games various ways to output the Dreamcast vmu all the different peripherals the mega drive has some great games and can even be emulated on DC if you were to look at it from a perspective of someone just starting out collecting retro consoles the Dreamcast is much more of an exiting prospect

Just fixed my PlayStation 2 it’s been sat in a cupboard with a damaged output socket for about 3 years been to cex this afternoon and bought Tekken tag and I’m really enjoying it but as said in a comment above I thought Tekken 5 was held in high regard hence the reason it was remastered on psp

@Banks I know it is technically a control pad but the Namco negcon is awesome really responsive playing any of the Ps1 ridge racer games with it is superb also works on ps2 ridge racer v and others like wipeout it looks ridiculous but is so good

@Banks fair enough the fishing rod was quite limited and it was a novelty playing soul calibur and tennis with it. I have seen the ds version of guitar hero but never actually tried it might see if I can pick it up cheap and give it a go

@NewBond the original Atari joystick was a nightmare for me I always wondered why they couldn’t have put a fire button on both sides it was virtually unplayable as a left handed gamer

Played all the guitar hero games to destruction back in the day really miss those type of games. Why no love for the Dreamcast fishing rod that was amazing when it first came out not only could you play sega bass fishing but soul calibur and virtua tennis way before the Wii was even a concept

@Sketcz the Jp logo is orange US is red but I think it was some kind of copyright issue that forced Sega to use the blue swirl but it does look better than the others

This sounds like a mission for the Dreamcast junkyard after all they did find the barber from the six billion players euro ad campaign

I would say Sega rally is a better game followed by crazy taxi ,virtua racing ,outrun 2 Sega made so many great racing games it’s difficult to choose

I’m really interested in this device if the price is right I will definitely bite hope you can use an ever drive I really like the look of it

@gb_nes_gamer an update just a few days ago has improved the system even further it genuinely is an excellent system you won’t regret getting it

@gb_nes_gamer the A500 mini is definitely worth getting especially at that price if you’re a fan of the Amiga it’s one of my favourite mini consoles really easy to add your own games

One of the highlights of cannon fodder on Amiga was the music but really the MD version still kept the playability sensible soccer was also very well done for the mega drive this looks like a great collection definitely getting this

Gonna boot mine up later I have had issues with buggy boy / speed buggy running ridiculously fast to the point of being unplayable not really encountered it with any other games glad to see it’s still being supported

Super cycle is a classic played it so much back in the day it was the closest thing to hang on on the c64 excellent game

That is a cool name it’s like when the Dreamcast was in development it was called katana I think that sounds a lot cooler but would it have been met with negativity by the media at the time

@gojiguy not sure I intended to get a brook adapter but ended up getting the 8bitdo adapter as it was on offer at the time

This looks cool I use my Dreamcast arcade stick all the time so it’s taken a bit of a beating over the years would love one of these as a replacement and the built in vmu is an amazing idea

So weird I played this yesterday on Dreamcast still enjoy it from time to time just wish it was longer

I’m pretty sure there is a Neo Geo pocket colour console in the same design or very similar

Looks great very metal slug like but that’s a good thing hope it gets a release on switch
