Re: Feature: Jez San On Star Fox, Super FX And Teaching Nintendo How To Fly

Great article - although this guy definitely comes across as quite the salesmen!

Whilst I loved stunt race fx at the time, playing it today I can see that it really was pushing the envelope on the SNES - the controls weren’t great, small viewing area and choppy visuals. But combined with the bouncy music and bright visuals it still just about works.

Great start to my Sunday morning.

A great article which really took me back. I had a SNES back then, but in recent years have really come to appreciate the mega drive more and more. Even the much derided sound chip could pump that bass in a way the SNES could never replicate. Enjoy both for what they are - amazing consoles- and enjoy 😉

Re: Hardware Review: Should You Import The Japanese Mega Drive Mini?

Tower of power - I assume this is sold separately, and so could be imported and attached to the western mini?

I actually prefer the 3 button pad as this was the variant I used back in the day, and a large part of enjoying these products is the nostalgia element. I won’t be playing street fighter 2 much as I already have hyper fighting on the SNES mini and arcade port on my xbox360 so this doesn’t bother me.

So for me I’ll be sticking with the western release for now.

What an interesting article - thanks for all the research that has clearly gone into this. In this day and age it seems almost unbelievable that companies/individuals were able to sell IP they didn’t actually own onto the likes of Sega and Atari.

The master system was my first console, and I still have a master system II. It is a great system to collect for as the vast majority of games are pretty cheap. Also, and unusually, Europe was where the most number of titles were published, so prices in the U.K. tend to be cheaper than elsewhere globally (except perhaps Brazil!)
