Hmm, looks a little underwhelming to me, honestly, but I'm always down for more adventure games in this style, so I wish him luck! I'll be sure to look into it at release.
@MegaManFan That's cool, seeing approval in the comments of a site like this is like kind of "recommendation vetting" for me, haha. Lots of retro tech enthusiast channels out there of varying quality.
I somehow haven't heard of Game Sack before. Thanks for the tip!
I'll be excited to check out the EGM documentary when it releases. I had a subscription when I was a kid and bought the last issue as an adult after I heard they were done. Very fun magazine, great coverage, and they (I believe) are responsible for bringing the Famitsu style of reviews to the West, with four reviewers scoring the game separately out of 10, because they wanted to follow the example set by Japan's best. At least, that's what I recall reading.
Video game news is delightfully weird sometimes. Time to do a deep dive on sound novels!
-Edit- Google led to me to Giant Bomb, where the entry on "sound novel" was last edited by none of other than Bowl of Lentils! https://www.giantbomb.com/sound-novel/3015-9258/ if anyone's curious.
So the graze mechanic is kind of like the "near miss" mechanic of Burnout or Crazy Taxi, rewarding risky maneuvering? What an interesting idea for shoot 'em up.
Great read. I really enjoyed seeing the history of G&W on GameCenter CX.
@rob7979 @mr_benn A G&W collection by Digital Eclipse, perhaps? With the Gold Master Series, interactive documentary treatment? I know I'm dreaming too big, but the idea is very cool to me.
The name "Phoenix Wright" truly encapsulates how tricky it can be to localize things. We often take it for granted in this hobby, which is one reason I appreciate articles like this!
@The_Nintendo_Pedant I only discovered the PICO-8 scene and the whole "fantasy console" concept in general late last year. It's fascinating. I hunched over my mobile screen and played a fun little crafting/puzzle game to completion in under an hour!

Re: The Guy Behind One Of Mortal Kombat's Most Iconic Easter Eggs Has Just Left NetherRealm
That's cool that original team members have been helping shape the modern entries.
Re: Onion Games' New Moon-Esque RPG 'Stray Children' Is Releasing Later This Month
I was about to unironically comment "That's quite a pedigree!" without noticing the pun, but I caught myself. Crisis averted.
Re: BitBeamCannon's Latest Neo Geo & Sega Genesis Game Is Mega Man In Everything But Name
They got the fist-raised jumping right, the most important thing.
Re: Ghost In The Shell On PS1 Happened Because Masamune Shirow Loved Jumping Flash
I gave the Jumping Flash games a go not too long ago for some 3D platformer history. Super weird, very clunky, but quite impressive!
Re: This 'In The Hunt' Tech Demo "Shows Us What The 16-bit Generation Lost" When NEC's SuperGrafx Bombed
Man, I'm such a sucker for parallax scrolling, even to this day...
Re: Poly Fighter Is A New Single-Player "Roguelike" Fighting Game Where You Make "Wild, Overpowered" Builds
I'm kind of rogue-d out at the moment, but I like the idea. Color me intrigued.
Re: Born64 Is A New PC Title "Designed With The Limitations Of The Nintendo 64 Console In Mind"
Quest 64 meets Bloodborne, at least visually? How interesting.
Re: Simon The Sorcerer: Origins Isn't The Only Fantasy Point-And-Click Adventure On The Horizon
Hmm, looks a little underwhelming to me, honestly, but I'm always down for more adventure games in this style, so I wish him luck! I'll be sure to look into it at release.
Re: Best Beat 'Em Ups Of All Time
Damn do I wish they'd re-release the Guardian Heroes XBLA version.
Re: PS3 Virtual On: Cyber Troopers Gets An English Fan Translation
I've only ever experienced this series via the arcades of Yakuza Kiwami 2, which let you play a version of Ontario Tangent. It was a lot of fun.
Edit: Sorry, Oricalchum Tango*
Re: After Super Mario, Metroid And Star Fox, Super Castlevania IV Is Getting The Rumble Treatment
@Damo Just a heads-up, there's a typo in the first sentence: "conicide."
This is very cool. Kando's work is always impressive.
Re: Double Dragon Artist Says Double Dragon Revive Is "Cheap" And "Shows No Respect" To The Series
"God, this new movie looks terrible, sure hope I can catch an early screening so I can take a dump in the theater..."

Re: Bitmap Books Next Release Aims To Be The "Definitive Book Of SNES RPGs"
That cover art alone makes me want to pick it up!Nevermind, the excerpts I just read are terrible, amateurish writing. Furthermore, the author said some racist things and then publicly celebrated "beating cancel culture" after the publisher walked back the action they said they'd take about it. I doubt we'll get an English version of this, but I'd love to be wrong.
Re: Golden Axe Is Being Unofficially Ported To The Atari 2600
Having recently completed Atari 50, I have a better (though still quite limited!) idea of how difficult a project like this is. Very cool.
Re: Aspyr Removes AI-Generated Vocals From Tomb Raider Collection After Voice Actor Takes Legal Action
I used to really like Aspyr, back when it seemed like they did decent work. What a shame.

Re: SNES Classic Super Mario World Is The Latest Game To Get Rumble Support
I love that old games like this get unofficial "updates." I'll have to check out the rumble-fied versions at some point.
