Re: Commodore Announces Xenon 3: Hyperblast For Steam, Switch And PlayStation

James-Bond

@Damo Looks like Commodore are going to have a new trademark/ownership lawsuit on hands as I bet WWE has "Starrcade and Starcade" all legally wrapped up since WCW ownership in early 2001, as it is the name of their PPV/PLE version of Wrestlemania.

It was even brought out of hibernation for NXT in last few years to keep trademark alive and in use.

Great article, really well dond TE. Miss this genre Utopia, Supremacy, Deuteros, Millenium 2.2 and others all perfectly suited to touch screen play on tablets as well.

Got a minty SNES version for a reasonable price during Pandemic. Think it uses SNES mouse as well. Always thought PAL/JAP mouse should have used Famicom primary colours as well for buttons and have been more ergonomic.

Re: The 'αSNES' Could Be The Final Form Of Nintendo's Legendary 16-Bit Console

James-Bond

Looks interesting, plus real carts so no dawn raids for reviewing it by Nintendo, but would prefer pre-built and all regions in one instead of seperate USA/UK editions.

There was Super SNES or whatever it was called a few years ago, I nearly purchased a purple style USA version, with a cartridge slot handheld, but decided against it in end.

Ah yes the SupaBoy! Looks gigantic!

Plus this is apparently out in 2025 delayed from 2020 also.

Plays Megadrive/Genesis carts also...

Re: This New ROM Hack Introduces "Revolutionary Force Feedback" To The SNES Classic Star Fox

James-Bond

Does anyone know at TE if his work with Starfox 2 or in fact any other Super FX games as well I presume not, as would have said as have a cartridge version of Starfox sequel for SNES? Would be fun if compatible with sequel as well, but as no official release obviously, maybe Stunt Race FX, Vortex others are a possibility in future? Even non FX games like F Zero or Mario Kart?

Re: Random: I Was Pranked By These Metroid Barcode Battler Cards, And Now I Wish They Were Legit

James-Bond

I could see this branded Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Square, Sega stuff being really popular today on a re-released Barcode Battler device.

Especially if they crossed over with electronic Pokemon cards whose craze/interest/value has only increased through the decades...

I am surprised Nintendo has never linked real Pokemon cards with an electronic device/game reader or even linked it to a Switch reader to play and transfer stats similar to Amiibos...

Been out of Pokemon loop for ages so if they have news to me.

Re: 'Final Fantasy Mystic Quest' Could Soon Be Playable On Your Sega Mega Drive / Genesis

James-Bond

@Sketcz A lack of quality colour manuals now is a crime as well as inserts plus maps and other extras.

Open up a Switch 2 case today and literally there is nothing inside it apart from a plastic faux cartridge all for 80 dollars what a bargain!

This is meant to be progress?

Much more effort was placed on creating physical products in the not too recent past with mainstream games.

Re: A Bunch Of Rare & Unused Nintendo Artwork Is Set To Go Under The Hammer

James-Bond

Final Fantasy, R Type, Gradius, Kings Quest Collection, North and South and Streetfighter ones are my favourites.

Especially the Super R-Type painting used for the official SNES American box, with the giant boss dominating the picture against the tiny ship.

Made an impression back when box art sold games.

Talented. Best wishes to family. RIP.

Re: This New Book Aims To Chart The History Of One Of The UK's Most Iconic Developers

James-Bond

Will back, one of the best software houses UK ever produced.

Collecting all the Psygnosis and Psyclapse Amiga boxed games at present for Roger Dean artwork and others.

In other news have been scrolling through EGM digital archive beta test run as up and running for compendium book kickstarter backers since last week.

Pretty comprehensive even already, defintely should be done for future retro magazines.

Re: Two Early N64 Prototypes Of 'The World Is Not Enough' Appear Online

James-Bond

Its not too bad, never played it at the time but gave it a go over Pandemic, plus has the N64 Goldeneye feel in places due to the hardware. Unlike say certain games afterwards on the next wave of consoles that could move the Bond games in new directions...also probably the first ever digital recreation of Denise Richards/Christmas Jones!
