@Kushan This, one million percent. I csnt stand AI, almost ever. The threat to careers, the threat to the environment, the threat to the global supply chain of computer components and memory, and even the way it erodes and tried to replace contemporary art and creativity. And don't get me started on AI romantic companions.
... and yet, as you said, this is game is 25 years old, and I've been eagerly following every forum thread over the years that said they were going to finally be the ones to translate this game... And nobody was ever able to even come close.
This is the very rare instance where I'm actually fine with this, and find the community writ large to be overreacting. There's a LOT to fear and hate about AI, but I just don't think this is the hill to die on.
On one hand, charging for their Android fork was obviously not okay. But if they had released it for free to begin with, I actually wouldn't see any issue with this. Xemu has been promising an Android port for years, and this individual just made it happen first.
But yeah, don't take open-source material and charge money for it. Bad bad.
@PowerPandaMods Can't wait for this bubble to burst. Can't believe we threw it all away for a glorified search engine that frequently hallucinates and regurgitates information it doesn't understand. Our company's internal Ai tool was so unreliable and straight up invented answers most of the time, we we ended up having to re-hire the people we cut.
And I'm in the tech industry. This is bigger than my livelihood. The lengths some of you will go through to defend the blatantly evil actions of mega corporations as they actively try to replace you and leave you with nothing is baffling.
How will this differ from Chris Scullion's own NES Encyclopedia? I already have that book and absolutely love it, I just wish it contained the full library of Japanese exclusives too.
Hopefully this won't have battery inflation issues like the Odin 2. I loved mine for about 8 months until the battery bulged out of the back plate, forcing me to throw it out.
@PinballBuzzbro Over the years, countless film directors, actors, writers, etc have been exposed as horrible pure evil human beings. Have you sworn yourself off from ever watching a TV show or movie again? You could even extend this to game devs. Are you going to stop playing all games? Wanna get into the music industry for a minute?
There's nothing blanket evil or sus about people who create content on YouTube. Anything you say about them, you could say about any other demographic of creator anywhere, ever.
Yuzu is unfortunately understandable, but Citra? Like, come ON, if there's no way to legally access these games anymore, I think an emulator becomes a noble pursuit in game preservation.
I mean, whatever, they'll still be available online because the internet, but it's a shame that active development is over.

Re: "The Controller You've All Been Asking For" - Evercade Gets A Wireless Pad, Finally
Oof, while it keeps to the aesthetic of the Evercade systems, which I appreciate, it looks so flat and uncomfortable to hold.
Re: AI's Insatiable Hunger For RAM Is Going To Play Havoc With The Emulation Handheld Industry In 2026
@axelhander This level of loyalty to AI has left me convinced that you, yourself, are an Ai bot. Beep boop, my friend. Beep boop.

@axelhander More like, gotta keep disregarding people's legitimate concerns!
Two things can be true at once, bud.

Re: Google Could Be Killing Android Emulation With Its New Policy Update
Can we please live a single day without mega corporations and governments eroding our rights and freedoms like this? No? Cool.

Okay, this would be AWESOME. Especially if Digital Eclipse is involved.

@hste Funny - over the years, I've grown to strongly dislike people who blindly hate on YouTubers.

@mariteaux You must be fun at parties.

How does the ESA even exist still, post-E3? Like, off to the dustbin of history with you, please.
Also, game preservation left up to... the publishers? Really? 😂
