Re: Talking Point: Are Video Games Linked To Physical Places In Your Memory?

I've got a good one. I went to an art high school, my major being the visual arts. When we reached grade 13, the program was entirely self directed. We got our own empty classroom with which to produce our thesis projects for the year. I remember entering our workspace on the first day of school, and tucked away in a corner was an old tv, and better yet, an SNES. Needless to say I spent that year playing way too much street fighter 2 turbo haha. The profs eventually got wind of the fact that no one was doing any work, so they barred access to the room. Anyway, I associate SF2T and a bunch of other snes games with that special space we had for a brief time.

@bippity_bop I think Area 51 was the most ubiquitous light gun game back in the day, at least in my region. It was literally everywhere. That and Cruisin' USA, was pretty much standard in any arcade/movie theatre/bar.

Oh yeah, this guy's got some crazy skills. His work definitely elevated the Prime games.

As a visual artist myself, I watched one of his tutorials years ago. Unfortunately it wasn't very helpful for me personally. He had a strange process involving building up layers of shapes and textures, until you find your image within. Certainly interesting, but not at all how my brain works when it comes to drawing.

@RootsGenoa I hear you regarding Magician Lord, I've never liked it. Unattractive visuals, and stiff, slow character movement, not to mention unforgiving difficulty. Cool premise, just poor execution.

I've been wanting to play Nightmare in the Dark for the longest time now, but it inexplicably still hasn't been ported to Switch along with nearly ever other game on this list. Ah well, there's always emulation I suppose.
