@Bizzy Sony just got greedy remember when they managed to outshine Sega Saturn by offering a better fairer price and better made games to boot? Or the PS2 being the cheapest DVD player deal? I miss that kind of playstation, Sure PS3 was expensive but aside from a few hardware issues it was a technical full package, Blu ray player, 4 USB slots, all them memory card slots one worked with the psp memory cards I think then ya got PS1 and PS2 disc support, compared to paying for a PS5 it can't even play PS1 game discs.
@Quick_Man It really is they should of just used the original art or got someone to actually draw some artwork like they did with the Robocod Switch 1 port which actually looks really nice despite the actual game content basically being the same version they released on the PS1 and PS2 in the 00s.
@IceClimbersMain There is a fan made RidgeRacer collection on PC that's worth looking into, I like this exists but tbh it just makes me appreciate the PS1 port more, glad to see Ridge Racer finally get some love tho.
Kinda nice Atari Jaguar is getting more games but it would of been nicer to have Zool 1 and 2 on modern systems, I ain't getting a Jag just for Zool, tho Zool 64 looks interesting would be interesting how they it work in 3D.
That's pretty awesome, it would be cooler if they somehow include Metal Gear Online like a later update, it give people more reason to buy this collection.
@-wc- Doesn't Hamster's Arcade Archive release of the arcade version have those features too? Aside from the password system Nes is basically the same game but less colour and less impressive sound.
Neat tho I think a GBA SP is a far better portable handheld, decent size screen, plays GB and GBC, flips making it easier to put away, better in the hands, I still use my nes classic GBA SP lot this summer.
@slider1983 Been replaying it on my Game Gear flash cart recently again it's kinda impressive how close it looks to the 16 bit versions, Game Gear version is the same but with screen crunch so more leaps of faith, thankfully the SMS version is playable on Game Gear, tho both versions have slightly different physics like Robocod can be a little slippy and I think some of the levels are missing compared to the Mega Drive and original Amiga version.
@-wc- A little pointless when you can get the arcade version from hamster I think for the same price, might of been better if they went for Bubble Symphony or Bubble Bobble Part 2 for the nes. ✌️
@slider1983 Tbh it's kinda impressive how it kinda catches the 16 bit look, considering Tiertex handle the port it's pretty good not perfect but a good version for 8 bit way better then the game boy version tho again Amiga or Mega Drive versions are the best versions tho I doubt it but it would be interesting if the cancelled Nes version is included in this just to see if it was any good or not.
@ThisIsPete I mean it looks better then the James Pond collection which apparently isn't using Ai at all, I think the best way to use Ai is as a tool but also have a human artist properly review it and fix any mistakes from design to glitches rather than just letting Ai handle the whole creative process and expect nothing to go wrong.
@slider1983 Yeah the later PS1 version/Gba version have different levels and lack the penguins 🐧 as I said the Amiga original is best version and maybe Mega Drive as a close 2nd.
@slider1983 I mean it's very easy to get the ROMs online and the best one Robocod was released on so many platforms it rivals Rayman 2 for having so many ports ironically really both 2nd games in their series lol Robocod was ported to Switch 1 a few years ago for a good price, tho I still say the Amiga version has the better levels.
They might be retro but the PS3 and Wii still have a very modern look to them, especially with a PS3 being HD, a lot of games still looking great even today, the fat PS3 has such a great futuristic design, while with Wii there's still a lot of great motion games that still look and play better then offerings you get on Switch despite the newer tech, not to mention the Wii being a one stop for all retro games with Virtual Console and other emulators Game Cube too both systems are worth using today "age hasn't slowed them down one bit"
@slider1983 ? You mean it's lacking cus it didn't include the awful home computer ports of the TMNT games? I played them out of curiosity and there basically all terrible, especially the Amiga version, having bad Sprites and lacking the actual TMNT/Konami music, can't forget how bad the Amiga track cus there's only one track in the whole game was just looping through the whole game, didn't you check out the turtles lair? Love how's it's in 3D and so much stuff about the comics and shows to the new game guides that you can reference from the pause ment very nice touch, especially for TMNT 1 for nes and TMNT 3 for GB to the behind the scenes stuff showing how they made the games and cut content like Metelhead meant to be a boss in TMNT arcade 1 rather then Turtles in time, not forgetting online multiplayer, the only real way to play TMNT/turtles in time, if you really want a collection of emulators and roms with cheap nasty ai art again older re-releases of James Pond had decent art even the recently Switch one, they couldn't pay someone just to do some art for them then I guess this is for you **you** lol tho again aside from the Amiga and maybe Mega Drive versions most of the other James Pond ports are basically ass and believe me I have played them.
@slider1983 at least Digital Eclipse actually puts enough into their retro collections TMNT and Atari 50 are some of the best yet no Ai here and plenty of history behind the games, Oh I played Robocod, but my autocorrect hasn't heard of it, it's one of the few games I think plays best on Amiga then Mega Drive despite owning both, and the awful PS1, GBA versions that replace the penguins 🐧 with elves and worse level layouts, I even brought the Switch 1 version they brought out a few years ago, I couldn't get into the first James Pond and the 3rd one is just weird, did have a soft spot for the sports spin off, but here's the thing James Pond could do a better collection then this awful Ai fake looking one, I mean what were they thinking? I'm sure the Switch 1 version and the PS1/2 ports had better art that didn't look like random generated art, remember having Robocod on DS too, again best versions were the Amiga ones, like that cool Danger Mouse style animated intro, honestly I would like a proper remake or new James Pond but honestly seeing this is how they handle it I rather they didn't, even Bubsy got better treatment recently then poor James Pond.
@PopetheRev28 Yeah the save batteries do die sadly surprised some of my carts still have a charge, tho it's why I like collecting GBA carts since aside from Pokémon Gba games there save is a bit more permanent memory but as you said they can be changed and most other issues are sorted by simply cleaning the cartridge, found that also applies to discs too as long it's not too scratched.
@PopetheRev28 As I said I was only a kid at the time and didn't know how to clean or repair it, but in all my life I only ever had two carts die/stopped working on me, everything else works 40+ years on.
@PopetheRev28 Kinda funny how there against anything Ai based but now anti physical, I have older cartridges then this like 30/40 years old and they work good as new once cleaned, I suspect this cartridge was damaged, I got a Aliens 3 Mega Drive that stopped working in the early 00s but I do remember something inside was rattling, was only a kid so I had no idea to fix it but that's the only time well twice I had Robocop for Game Boy Colour which also broke/stopped working in the early 00s yet my older Game Boy games including the original GB Robocop works perfectly even now I had a cartridge stop working, even a lot of my stracthed PS1 discs work pretty well even now.
Gonna pass on this, Robocod was the only decent one, the amount of Ai in the trailer is kinda surprising, did none of the people involved look at this and noticed how cheap and awful it looks? It looks so fake, bad when even Bubsy got a better collection then James Pond. Do ya all self a favour and just don't buy it, there's enough ways to emulated Robocod if you really need to play it.
@slider1983 What version are you playing? 🤔 Sure it's the original game and all series have to start somewhere where but really "detailed sprites with definition" I know this got a original Gameboy port but for Amiga and Playstation The original worms looked bad even back then, There's a reason why people still play Worms Armageddon
@Martin_H I mean there's a lot of charm in the PS1 version, for me it's one of the best looking games on the system, tho this would be good for modding tho people have already modded the PS1 games with extras but more Spyro is never a bad thing.
@slider1983 They actually animate them in Worms 2/Armageddon, not sure what you mean detailed sprites when they look like something off the Atari 2600 in the original worms even in this director's cut version, they don't animate, all looking the same, like a bunch of copies stuck in pause mode, While in Armageddon they actually have personalities, they all move, looking alive, properly animated using weapons and gadgets, and the designs give them a nice lively cartoon look, instead of looking like being made out of 20 pixels, "detailed sprites with definition" my foot lol
@slider1983 They look like Atari 2600 Sprites, last I checked worms didn't have noses, the sequel worms actually have a character design, not to mention proper animations.
