Assemble Entertainment has announced that the final two titles in the Leisure Suit Larry series, Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry (2018) and Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice (2020), will be delisted later this month from Steam and GoG.

As reported by VGC, the publisher announced on Steam that the two cheesecake point-'n'-click sequels will be removed from the digital storefronts on October 23 - seemingly never to return:

"We’ve had an amazing time bringing Larry back, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined him on his adventures, laughed at his questionable decisions, and supported the games along the way. It’s been a fantastic run, and we’re happy we got to be part of it."

The delisting follows a similar situation that took place last year, when Sierra On-Line's original Leisure Suit Larry run, along with High Voltage's truly abysmal Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (2004), were also delisted from PC storefronts.

The controversial but wholly silly franchise has always been mired in licensing issues, having passed through numerous developers and publishers over the past three decades - both with and without the involvement of series creator Al Lowe.

The series has been subject to a variety of sequel cancellations and urban myths - including the non-existence of an official fourth entry, numerous fan-made "sequels" and remakes, censorship diatribes, and a plethora of piracy problems in its formative years. Not to mention the entire franchise's dubious themes and lewd, crude narratives.

While no reason has been stated for the removal of the Assemble games, Video Game History Foundation curator Phil Salvador posits that Electronic Arts' 2021 purchase of Codemasters has led to the expiration of an IP distribution deal between Assemble Entertainment and the latter.

Assemble Entertainment did not confirm whether this move finally brings about the bawdy, balding idiot's Waterloo.

"Unfortunately, we can’t share anything about [Leisure Suit Larry's] future. So if you’ve been thinking about giving Larry’s latest adventures a try, now’s the time."

"Once October 23 passes, these two games will be gone from the store. Give Larry the farewell he deserves. Get them now or never."

Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry and Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice are currently available on the U.S. Steam store at a whopping 95% discount (though at this writing they are still full-price in other territories). The GoG editions are also similarly discounted.

So it looks like this is Larry's last dance, for the time being at least. All the lounges and lodges, the cruises and clubs, the discos and dormitories, and having survived fire, flood, and flaccidity en route to living his utterly charmless (but hardly tedious) life, it looks like it's time for Larry to hang up his waistcoat - seemingly halted by nothing any more exotic than tedious red tape.

Who knows whether the original Lounge Lizard will ever don the polyester again? It's doubtful, but still, you can never keep a good man down. Especially in the age of Sildenafil.
