Re: Here's Why Controllers Have 'A, B, X & Y' Buttons, And Not 'A, B, C & D'

BlaizeV

Sony's design of using shapes is truly one of the great examples of design of the last 50 years. It is totally iconic and exclusive to the brand. It's perfectly intuitive, more so than even letters. It's just perfect.

I'm actually surprised that pure colour buttons isn't something that Xbox didn't try after the 360. I guess that 'design' was very mid 00's MSN and all that but when they moved away to black something was lost. Also I guess just colours means they would have colour blindness to contend with.

But in a world of Sony's shapes I've always found the combination of ABXY and the different layouts a tad annoying. Though I always get used to it for each console pretty quickly.

Re: Random: "That's Wild" - The Fact That Two French Devs Didn't Play Nintendo As Kids Appears To Have Upset Some People

BlaizeV

this doesn't really surprise me.

Nintendo was never first place in europe until the Wii really. Handheld is a different story but for home video consoles I think it's normal to never owned a nintendo platform.

I did have a NES and Super Nes but I was the odd one out at school, all my friends had Mega Drive and Master Systems.

It changed abit with the N64, I think alot of Sega kids moved to the N64 in that generation. Weirdly I didn't till much later and initially had a PS1. But without a doubt Sony Playstation took over as de facto no.1.

No contest really for PS2.

Then the Wii penetrated the market in a similar way to the PS2 and caught that casual part of the market and was a much more approachable kids system.

So yeah if you grew up on games in the 90s through to the mid 00s and 2010s I could totally see missing out on Nintendo altogether. Europe was never a stronghold for Nintendo until they basically unified their home and portable consoles with the Switch.

Re: Love Obscure Japanese Puzzle Games? Then This Week's Arcade Archives Release Is For You

BlaizeV

I'm a simple man, I see a falling block puzzle game come to Arcade Archives and I instantly buy it.

Only ever saw video of this one before. I already 100% the trophies which were very easy.

The game is fun but very quick and the difficulty ramps up fast when playing the CPU.

Great game though...I miss the times when games like this would have a bunch of random characters. I mean you can play as a dragon, a nerd, a tanuki and what I think is Mt Fuji in this game lol.

Re: "Thanks For The Nostalgia Kick" - Devs Behind The Getaway Look Back On A PS2 Classic

BlaizeV

I was so excited to see Getaway 3 on PS3. It's a shame it never happened, though the mostly fake reveal probably would've led to disappointment for the final game.

I wish that open world games would traverse the world more often, too often american cities take centre stage.

I'd love to see the modern UK represented and even outside of that people talk about how interesting a new GTA London would be but what about somewhere in South America or Africa? So many interesting possibilities for a series like GTA or copycats to do something different.

Re: The Truth About Retro Game Hunting In A Post-Pandemic Japan

BlaizeV

Cannot be overestimated how many Japanese are also aware of the value and profit they can make selling their domestic releases abroad. If you could shop locally and quintuple the value of readily available stock at your local second hand stores you'd be hard pressed to turn those oppurtunities down. So it's not just tourists ransacking stock but locals too.

Re: Best Tekken Games Of All Time, Ranked By You

BlaizeV

@MARl0 it is, I honestly don't get this list at all. I expected it to be between Tekken 3 and 5 for the top spot and then Tag and 2 battling for 3rd.

No idea how Tekken 4 and Revolution rank above 5. Also how is the original anywhere near the top 5 lol.
