i bizarrely like the look of this. the way duke moves and looks is great except the poor mans bullet time animation, but looks like this could have had potential. the trouble is poor duke has never got the game he deserves. he needs an ultra gory, part futuristic.1st person shooter in line with doom or similar. needs to be a decent solid action shooter with not much cheese and no turd fishing from toilet bowls. not sure why everybody who takes on duke games has a very weird idea of humour. very teenage boy toilet humour of boobs, swear words, turds, trashy one liners
not to speak ill of the dead but that was a very narrow minded, angry pathetic rant coming from a then very middle aged balding man who obviously lacked insight and had no idea as to how big an impact the 2D beat em up genre was having around the world and would have on the games industry up until now. they are still very much kicking ass today whether new or literally 30years old so wtf was he chatting?!
made me laugh that he said more skills are learnt playing pac man and space invaders, while being possibly sarcastic i'm guessing he was slightly unhinged and very hateful of beat em ups because they obviously were way too advanced for his pac man skill set. he must have absolutely sucked at 2D beat em ups so bitterly spat out a hate filled article about them. while moving on to 2025 there are more 2D beat em ups and 2D indy games that are way more successful than even current gen AAA titles. not to mention huge tournaments and huge revivals of retro 2D games.
he said play virtua fighter and other 3D games instead yet didnt seem to grasp that nearly every game in a genre is identicle in most button layouts/move sets/story lines/characters. the only difference is the 2D or 3D visuals and therefore a game being 2D or 3D doesnt determine skill level or difficulty either.
kunkel was just a hater steeped in irony and total contradiction. he played sh*t games but wrote articles calling beat em up fans losers who need to grow up and move out the basement, whilst the saddo sat their watching wrestling. which is basically softcore porn of sweaty grown men in spandex pretending to beat each other up in a ring and acting out sh*tty soap opera story lines. hahaha rest in peace ya dope
