@Jimgamer8 The tarrifs are arse for sure, but if that was a factor... wouldn't they just say so? What would they have to be afraid of with that transparency?
@jmbenetti Honestly as a video game it would definitely be improved by that, but I always felt like it was a one-of-a-kind experience and the fact that the game itself barely worked and had every Sierra and LucasArts BS trope rolled into one ball of "I hate you, player, please commit Turning The Game Off" almost adds to the game's charm for me. It's like "so bad, it's good" but of game fairness.
And yeah, Ellison was the voice of A.M itself - apparantly, he unexpectedly found himself having such a good time doing the voice that he then went on to do the audiobook himself.
@jmbenetti The game being an absolute nightmare is part of the experience, I find. I believe the original writer of the story who worked on the game originally wanted there to not even be a way to beat it, or at least not in a way that ended the story with any hint of hope. He had to be talked back on that.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant Jesus Christ some people just think everything they don't like is a new bad invention huh. Back to the Intellivision I guess, wouldn't wanna exist in any era post remakes. You know, the 80s.
Ninja Gaiden II and Dead or Alive 4 were mainstays of my childhood years, excitedly having crazy experiences on my first ever "brand new" console [the first... and only, as I never got a console within the launch year after that ever again lmao]. Ninja Gaiden II was definitely a smidge too hard for 9 year old me, that's for sure.
I know these games are praised for their sexy women, but... Ryu Hayabusa, jeez, one of the most attractive men in video game history. Definitely ended up being one of the formative video game characters of my awakening, that's for sure.
And Dead Or Alive was so much more than just the eye candy, it had a feel that no other fighting game franchise has had before or since - these cinematic set-pieces that complimented the mechanics, not got in the way of them. The stage interactivity that made you feel like you were part of a martial arts movie.
RIP Itagaki. It's a shame he didn't live to 99 years old so Heaven would've had maximized jiggle physics.
I'm glad they budged on it eventually but this just really goes to show that we need to get the companies themselves on board with true preservation when so many of them still don't understand it. Like, I'm not a purist at all, but there's no reason why a remake happens we shouldn't be able to have the best of both worlds. I love Final Fantasy 7's remakes thus far, Remake, Crisis Core Reunion and Rebirth, some of the biggest generous uses of the term "remake" ever with crazy interesting plot twists and much better development of more unexplored characters - but the original experience should be there too, and the fact that it is available is a fantastic thing and is nothing but a win-win - players get to choose which version they want [give me them ALL, personally, om nom nom more Zack content om nom feed me] and the companies always make more money as a result.
@Daniel36 It wasn't hugely popular outside Japan in console format due to the high price point, it really was the Ferrari of consoles at the time. The system you'd have on a poster on the wall. Their twin-pronged approach of having both arcade machine and home consoles helped massively. A lot of people couldn't afford the system but the machines were everywhere, especially in poorer regions like Latin America, South America or parts of Asia like Taiwan. The home console was the rich person's club, but the arcade machine felt like the arcade machine of the people lol.
I don't think we need to "both sides bad" the argument when the sides are "how dare you set up a GoFundMe for a medical expense, this implies that our country is not completely flawless and as the main character of the universe I cannot abide by such slander" and "shut up mate".
@slider1983 Is it possible you can not make somebody's cancer about the fact they don't want to see your posts on social media or is that a smidge too high of a challenge
Working on a single franchise for over three decades had to have been exhausting, but sound design was always integral to Mortal Kombat and the series wouldn't have been the same without Dan.
@MapsBam Are you just completely against the idea of not being the main character of the universe and that just because you've gotten a good roll of the dice that not everybody has it the same? Cool, you personally got lucky with YOUR healthcare. The GLOBAL knowledge that US healthcare is expensive as hell is not invalidated by ONE PERSON'S EXPERIENCE.
Very weird Rebecca couldn't even launch a GoFundMe without someone in the comments feeling like it was a personal attack on glory greatest United States of America and that she must be scamming because the country couldn't possibly fail anyone when we have the glorious king back at the helm. One of the nicest goddamn people you'll ever meet in the industry and that's what you're thinking about...
The GBA had some really surprisingly good and ambitious ports. Street Fighter Alpha 3 and the two versions of Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance were also very good.
I love the James Channel, er, channel so much. No other YouTuber provides the amount of angle grinding and hot glue that I require to be entertained sufficiently.
Translating this series must've been such an undertaking given how almost every name is Japanese-specific wordplay. You can see in the huge differences of the fan translation and official translation of Investigations 2 just how wide a spectrum translation is and how many possible "answers" there are. A fan translated name was Sebastian Debeste, the official translation was Eustace Winner. So different yet quite well convey the joke in their own way.
KOF 2000 is such a weird pick. One of the most forgotten games in the series. You'd think they'd either go with the first one in '94 or one of the ones that are considered the best, like '97, '98 or 2002.
@Daniel36 I would hope so. People dismissed the infamous Konami/Kojima scandal from years back as just one company being horrible, but that's just the Japanese work culture. I would hope more and more of them would speak up and fight for better rights as I similarly hope for western creators.
The reason you don't hear about these horror stories from companies like Nintendo or Sega while seemingly always reading about them from Western companies is because this is shocking to the West while in Japan it's just the norm and not even report-worthy. People often think Japanese companies are some glorious pro-worker fantasy land because this stuff doesn't get reported as much, haha NOPE.
@cyxceven It's a reference to a by-gone era where stuff like that is interesting and is worth preserving. Don't get your knickers in a twist with armchair psychology about how this proves they're "out of touch with reality".
Some of the major trolls that have always been going after retro YouTubes are just being arses as usually. If I have to read "George Bum" ever again I'm going to throw my device through a window. But yeah this was always a long shot. "Where did the 25k go?" askers are just stupid. They probably spent a lot more of their own money than that 25k.
Interesting that they deliberately left out a visible cursor for Point Blank - presumably because it can make some of the challenges where you have one bullet and a tricky target way too easy?
Came into this expecting a bunch of drooling "no polticin viddy gum" responses and was not disappointed.
Some people care about things you don't. I'm sorry to have broken your heart over this revelation. But you don't have to announce that you don't care every single time you ever see something you don't care about.
I legitimately respect people who go "I don't see anything wrong with this controversial person" more than "DON'T CARE NO POLITICS" because at least the former had something to say while the latter had nothing to say but still think people had to read their drivel.
I doubt Trilogy will be announced as it was never an arcade game, but seeing that they're throwing wacky GBA ports [including Mortal Kombat Advance, an unplayable mess] who knows? If they want it to be complete, they'd need the PS1, N64 and Saturn versions - Saturn being the hardest to emulate.
@NicolausCamp Street Fighter EX games were made by Arika, they've always been one of the "little to no chance" options. Surpassed maybe only by Tatsunoko vs Capcom. That game is NEVER getting rereleased and I accepted that years ago.
GT1 arcade mode had completely different, more simplified handling compared to the career mode. I think this carried over to GT2, although I don't quite remember fully. By GT3, that was no longer the case - arcade mode was just quick race with the regular handling.
This is like a boat being too unstable out in the open sea so you shoot a hole in it with a shotgun and then go "uhm smart guy I didn't see YOU coming up with a genius solution like me"
