Re: Developer Of Densha De Go "Tribute" Admits To Using AI, Considers Halting The Project Over "Online Hate & Accusations"

This makes me sad. This is the first game in a very long time that I recommend a friend check out. I love the PS1 Densha de Go games and it would be nice to play something similar natively in English.

Using AI for temporary assets is something I see both sides of the argument for if you're developing yourself.

Using actual train lines and trains without considering copyrights says the creator is probably pretty niave.

But the core concept and execution seems fantastic. Sure it's a rip off, but so many great games are. If Taito had these old games available on Steam then it would be pointless, but it seems like a fun little game.

I wonder if this could be game collecting's version of Death of Superman. This is a very niche product and I have to wonder how many people are buying it specifically to sell at a higher price later.

If it's popular enough where scarcity isn't a purchasing factor, that would be great for people who actually want to play it, not so much for people who want to stick it on a shelf for 3 years and throw it up on ebay.

I got a NGPC when they were sold in a blister pack with I think 4 games and you could buy a set of 6 more? I don't totally remember but they were blowing them out and I snagged one and a total of 10 games.

It was such a pleasure to play, the clicky d-pad was fantastic and I really felt the games were designed for the system, not just trimmed down ports. Movement was slower and more precise to match the console.

I also got a WonderSwan for cheap but never really got into it.
