This October will see the return of the prehistoric heroes Joe & Mac in a new retro collection from Red Art Games, in partnership with the Japanese developer/publisher G-Mode.

The collection was initially crowdfunded on Kickstarter last year, raising €36,952 from 612 backers, and will be coming to Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam digitally on October 29th, 2026,

Physical options are available for Switch and PS5, with these versions scheduled to launch in early 2027 for Kickstarter backers and those who pre-order from Red Art Games' website. These physical versions all cost €39.99 to pre-order, except for the special "Rock Edition", which is priced at €69.99 and includes a double-sided poster, badges, and an acrylic stand.

The Joe & Mac Retro Collection includes three Data East SNES titles (Joe & Mac Caveman Ninja, Congo’s Caper, and Joe & Mac Lost in the Tropics), and is also said to contain their "uncensored" Super Famicom counterparts.

This is likely a reference to the original Japanese opening for Joe & Mac Caveman Ninja, which was altered outside of the country, with the original cutscene featuring a group of neanderthals attacking and kidnapping a group of women being dubbed too extreme for Western tastes (you can judge for yourself here).

As you'd expect from a collection of this type, it includes a bunch of bonuses, such as a rewind function, save states, and a CRT filter, but also interestingly throws in an additional Boss Rush mode, letting you battle bosses from across all three games in quick succession.

"Grab your club/hammer, the Stone Age is back and bigger than ever!

For the first time, three legendary adventures from the Joe & Mac universe are united in a single collection. Step back in time and join your favorite cavemen in their wildest escapades through jungle mayhem, fighting dinos, and stone-age fun.

Joe&Mac Caveman Ninja: The original arcade hit that started it all. Rescue the village’s women from a gang of Neanderthals and face off against deadly dinos.

Congo’s Caper: A wacky spin-off full of high-flying action, mischievous monkeys and even more prehistoric madness.

Joe&Mac Lost in the Tropics: A tropical sequel where our heroes get new weapons, face new enemies and must defend the Tiki Village

Three full games, one epic Stone Age experience. Whether you are a nostalgic fan or a curious newcomer, this collection is your ticket to relive or discover the colorful chaos of Joe & Mac."
