I've always preferred original hardware for the DS line. You could by a second hand New 3DS XL with dual ips screens for cheaper although a little hard to find. Also, all the DSi XL comes with ips screens and are much cheaper. Plus you get the nice Nintendo OS.
I owned this horrible controller back in the day for SNES. I was duped by marketing to buy it for playing Street Fighter II Turbo. It ended up being the "loser's" controller when I had friends over until they brought their own.

I own a few anbernic devices but this can play dreamcast and psp games without an analog stick? hard pass. Would probably grab one if it did have it.
