Re: "Limited Run Games Has Been My Life For Ten Years" - Josh Fairhurst Announces He's Stepping Away

@Zeebor15 Everything I've gotten has used proper 5V chips, though you have the controversy with their NES releases using incorrect voltages and the used chip pulls for Shantae Advance. First thing I do when I get them is pop them open and see if I got screwed over, so it's not like I have any faith in the company at all.

I dunno, it is rolling the dice, but for the very few titles I've purchased from them it was also the only reasonable way I was ever getting Trip World or the first Shantae. If they had been improperly made I would have demanded a refund and swapped the PCBs for some one-game flash carts.

@Zeebor15 Forgot they had announced Little Samson, but if I remember right they said there were no plans for an NES cartridge release. Cartridge re-releases of expensive titles have been the only things I've purchased from them lately, and they seem more interested in modern console releases than bothering to manufacture cartridges. Or you have something like Gimmick where I was amazed that they put it on an NES cart with no expansion audio- not the version anyone was looking for.

Re: Hands On: G'AIM'E Light Gun - This AI-Powered Blaster Hits The Target

Amazed to hear an AI in a box processor actually handles things decently.

I'm not sure what the appeal is though in investing in guns and another system to hook up for 4 games that they stress repeatedly won't be expandable with any future titles.

If it does well am I buying another box and two more "upgraded" guns for a small handful of other games? If it's just the box, slim as they may be, will I end up with a stack of 3 or 4 of them, each with a few titles? I'm assuming the lack of expandable storage is cost and hacking related, but it's definitely not an investment as-is.

I've gotten one "Collector's Edition" from them and decided it was kind of chintzy junk. That's a to each their own thing.

Past that I've gotten a select few normal releases, but now I'm worried the Gameboy carts they released are the wrong voltage.

I don't like their business model to begin with, though the switch to open pre-orders is much better than a 10 minute sell out. With such a large string of recent gross negligence it will take some very special titles to get me to buy anything else (and hopefully they just go to other publishers).

It would be nice to have the original voice acting/script as an option but I find it hard to believe there would be a lot of people pining for Working Designs' slop beyond the nostalgia factor. Like any other WD project these games desperately need a full re-localization and I'm tired of Victor Ireland constantly complaining that companies don't want to buy his fanfiction.

Re: JALECOlle Famicom Edition Brings Jaleco NES Classics To Switch

@Poodlestargenerica I think the achievements, overlays, custom music, etc justify $8 for certain titles. Pinball Quest looks to be a cheap NES title but if they do unreleased games like this I'd be interested.

The live translation overlay is genius honestly. Not as nice as official translation work but probably 1/10 of the technical work involved in getting the game to display roman characters properly. If it's the difference between something getting translated or stuck in Japanese forever, bring more please!

@GhaleonUnlimited Would be nice to see if it's engineered properly! I've held off on the Cotton releases as well seeing that they were from Columbus Circle.

8-Bit Music Power was a Famicom music compilation cart they released several years ago. There is actually an updated version on pre-order at Limited Run Games right now if you're curious. It's basically a mixtape album on a Famicom/NES cart.
