I remember this coming out while I worked at an EB Games (before merging with GameStop). I don't think we sold a single one. I do still have some display cases for it though haha
@BulkSlash Same! I wish Namco would give us a collection of their games from the '90s and '00s instead of another Namco Museum with the same games over, and over again. Same goes for Sega!
I still have my Time Crisis 4 CIB! Actually, I have all the U.S. Guncon games CIB!
I remember picking this up on launch day, but was disappointed with the controls. The movement felt slow compared to Perfect Dark. I did beat it, and even played online. Maybe I'll give it another go in the future.
I can't help but notice that Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is on this list of best GameCube games, but placed poorly on the best Metal Gear game list (18th, I think). I did like the GC version more than the PS version, though.
No love for Star Fox Adventures or Star Fox Assault? I'd add Phantasy Star Online and Gauntlet Dark Legacy to the list, but I know I have tastes different than most.
I'm fickle when it comes to playing games without their OG controllers, which means I play on TV. It just feels odd trying to play a Genesis game with a SNES style button layout, or a Saturn game with a DualShock controller, etc. I can't even use the RetroFighter Brawler 64 controller because it doesn't feel right to me, to what I'm used to.
@UK_Kev That is interesting. I never saw, or heard, about DVD and Dreamcast bundles. I live in the USA, so maybe it was a UK thing? I did see a lot of places using PS2s as DVD players though.
@Gamecuber CRT? Nice! I had to get rid of mine years back. I use a Framemeister for my PS2, N64, and Dreamcast. The rest use HDMI either by system (Analogue products and Polymega) or plug-and-play adapters (Prisim and Xbox2HDMI).
@Gamecuber You're right that it was the cheapest DVD player and that it helped sales. I remember Sony trying the same thing with the PS3 as a cheap bluray player. I think people also forget about the Disc Read Error problem with PS2s. I remember those broken systems coming to our game store with people asking for help.
As I'm sure you know, most PS2 games output 480i, while the other three systems had most of their games output 480p. Those 480i games just don't look good on modern displays without help of an upscale. Hell my main TV doesn't even recognize 480i!
I know my list would be different, but that is because I don't really play RPGs. Like a lot of others here I'd have more arcade/Sega games.
@AJB83 I agree about the PS2. It was my least played of the four consoles that generation. I think the Xbox is a better system for me.
I think others like the PS2 because of the RPGs, and that more people probably played the PS2 over the other systems. It was something like 9 million Dreamcasts, 21 million GameCubes, and 24 million Xboxs against 155 million PS2s (if my memory is correct on those numbers). I'm curious if someone had played the other systems when I see them praise the PS2 as the goat.
@bryce951 You're probably right. Nothing against Wii style aiming as I kept my Wii mostly for light gun games, but I'll pass on this and wait for my light guns for my Polymega.
I still have all the Guncon games complete in box, but no longer have a CRT. I'm interested in this, but the screen seems pretty small at only 17". Also, if it is a LCD screen then they must be using Sinden's tech. Right?
@ChromaticDracula Since Piko Interactive has the rights they'll probably release it themselves for the N64. They did that with 40 Winks after they bought the rights and finished the game.
I already bought the Japanese version from PlayAsia, but I'm fine with that since I'm not a fan of RedArtGames. I have a couple of their games, including a special edition one. The problem I have is that it is cheap, thin cardboard. Just not worth the price imo.
@Gs69 Yeah, it is similar to the Switch Pro Controller, which I like. Retrobit didn't cancel their Dreamcast controller as far as I know. I guess time will tell!
I pre-ordered the blue one. The Dreamcast is the last console I need a wireless controller for!
@Gs69 I have Retrobit's Genesis and Saturn controllers. They're pretty nice. I was waiting for their Dreamcast controller, but, like you said, they've been quiet about it. I didn't like the fighting pad version they showed either.

Re: Flashback: Xbox Got Its Name Because The Other Suggestions Were "F**cking Appalling"
I love the OG Xbox. I was playing it last night haha
I think the OG Xbox is a good console for those wanting to start a collection, since the games are still cheap.

Re: Yuzo Koshiro's Mega Drive / Genesis Shmup 'Earthion' Coming To Current-Gen Systems In 2024
I'll pick up the Genesis version! I love that it is still getting physical releases. My most recent ones were Ultracore and Xenocrisis.

Oh! I think I'll pick one up to try on the Polymega.
Re: Gallery: Opening Up Retro-Bit's 'Battletoads & Double Dragon' And 'Gleylancer' Reissues
I wanted to get that Gleylancer reissue, but decided not to as I have a pretty nice repro. Such a fun game!

@Gamecuber That sounds like a sweet setup! Space is something I have to consider (unfortunately).

Re: 'Dodonpachi DaiOuJou Blissful Death Re:Incarnation' Arrives On Switch And PS4 This December
I wonder if LRG or SLG will pick it up for a western release. I'll probably just import from PlayAsia.
Update: I did pick up the PS4 version from PlayAsia.
