I absolutely love my Game Boy Colour, I've still got the one my parents bought me in 1999 so I could play Pokemon Red. It's insane just how durable they are, aside from having to replace the speaker that Game Boy still works perfectly to this day.
I also bought a second, ratty Game Boy Colour so I could mod it with an aftermarket case, buttons and an IPS backlit screen. It looks absolutely gorgeous but that screen chews through AAs horrendously quickly. Really need to add the LiPo battery mod to that Game Boy at some point.
Actually playing on the original hardware just isn't that great nowadays though, all the limitations with the hardware are extremely apparent and there are far nicer ways to play old GB games now. Steam Decks are pricey but they're incredible emulation machines.
@Carck Nice to have a differing opinion with someone on a comments section and it be civil to be fair! In this case it wasn't just a woman running around in a bikini, at the time when the controversy came about he said something along the lines of "There's a really good reason for why she's a half naked sniper in a warzone, you'll all feel really silly when you find out the reason why when the game comes out" and then that reason turned out to be "she breathes through her skin".
The thing is GTA is meant to be the edgiest of the edgiest, it's meant to hit all the wrong buttons. MGS4 gets played off as a serious war drama so there is a fair amount of thematic dissonance in a game discussing PTSD and mental trauma but also at the same time saying "Hey why don't you take some risque pictures of these people". Like I said, I'm 100% not against bikinis and half naked women, but in an industry that already has a very poor reputation for the treatment of women in both real life and in game a lot of what Hideo says and does comes across as greasy and the kind of thing a 14 year old would say.
Speaking of things a 14 year old would say, that's a real boring take there @Gamer83. Please go back to the Call of Duty lobbies where your opinion probably means something, because you clearly have nothing of interest to add to any discussion involving adults. Perhaps you could even find a job with Blizzard because you seem to have the same mentality as them.
@Carck I did, and although it's not an extreme example it's one more thing in a long line of things that show what he regards as important is slightly to incredibly questionable.
I'm not a puritan and I'm entirely not against sexy in media and art but when you have someone who decides a game (MGS4) should feature an option for you to take risque pictures of a group of women who are extremely mentally damaged and suffering from PTSD in the middle of a section of the game where you're fighting them it just comes across as incredibly greasy.
And that's just one example from one game, people quite rightly called out Quiet when she was first introduced as an example of an oversexualised character in a video game with no real reason or context for why she's oversexualised, something games in general have had a massive problem with, and Hideo's explanation for why was hilariously bad.
@-wc- With the fact that there's practically a McDonalds everywhere and just how generally mind-bogglingly successful the restauraunt chain is I'd say they're pretty unequivocally good at conceptualising food.
Almost 30 years on from when I first played FFVII I'm still absolutely entranced by the pre-rendered backgrounds, it's obviously because I spent the 90's gaming but there's just something about prerendered 90's 3D computer graphics that makes me incredibly happy.
Good god those poor devs...I'm just imagining the deluge of "RELEESE WEN" comments they're gonna get spammed with regardless of the big clear message they put up at the start of the video.
@purplesodium It's not just the fact that Game Boy wasn't in the title though, there was that Unofficial MD/GEN book that by all accounts should have been fair use but was cancelled because it was facing legal action by Sega and I swear Nintendo did the exact same thing to another fanmade book recently.
@ChromaticDracula Aw man, that's just made me think of a huge missed opportunity. Hand-drawn art in the style of Ken Sugimori's artwork, but with an explorer sketch book touch to it would have been just absolutely perfect and completely on vibe for the Pokedex in Legends: Arceus.

Re: Dragon Quest SNES Prototype Worth $50,000 "Lost For Good"
People getting this upset over a private sale of a video game of all things and calling it "greed" really really need to go outside and touch grass.

Karate? The Dane Cook of martial arts?
Re: Flashback: That Time Miyamoto Said He Could Make Halo, But Didn't Want To
Miyamoto is like classic rock, groundbreaking a very very long time but now old, outdated and completely irrelevant.
Funnily enough a fair few classic rock bands make pointlessly pretentious comments like Miyamoto's too.
Re: This $10 Pokémon Trading Tool Lets You Cheat At A 28-Year-Old Game
"You might not see the point in cheating at a game that is almost 30 years old"
I completely do, it makes completing your Pokedex on gen 1 games a lot easier.
Re: Indiana Jones Using Nazi Enemies Is A "Creative Lapse" Says Fate Of Atlantis Director
Hard disagree, Indiana Jones punching Nazis in the face is an inherent and awesome part of the franchise.
Re: Wii Fans Are Reviving The Console's eShop With 'RiiShop'
So hold up, they're hosting all the copyrighted content originally available on the Wii Shop for people to download for free?
Yeah nah, Nintendo's lawyers are gonna kill this one quick 😂

Oh nice, more for the "Hideo Kojima is a huge sexpest" pile.

@Sketcz I'm wondering that myself, how does someone with those credentials not even get an interview?
Re: Random: This Virtua Fighter Robot Is Ridiculously Cool
Can we get robots to the point where we can make sparring robots please? I'd love to train against video game characters, that'd be goddamn sweet.

I loved that Henk in the Tetris film spent a lot of it wearing a Black Onyx t-shirt as a reference to that, that was neat.
