Re: Double Dragon Artist Says Double Dragon Revive Is "Cheap" And "Shows No Respect" To The Series

RudeAnimat0r

I think the new game looks a little generic, but as someone who played the original Double Dragon, I don't honestly have a whole lot of nostalgia for it. It was quickly surpassed by Final Fight and Streets of Rage in both presentation and gameplay.

Maybe it is sad that no one from Technos cares for it, but it's an IP at this point, not a single game or even several games. It's not like Double Dragon Neon didn't play with the series a lot too.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Sega System Of All Time?

RudeAnimat0r

I voted for the Saturn as it's my favorite Sega console. I think it's hard to argue against the Genesis as the best since it was popular and had a ton of support, and therefore a lot of great games. Dreamcast had an amazing lineup considering it was only supported for 2 years - it definitely has the best first party games of their history I would argue.

Re: Hideo Kojima Claims Konami Wanted Metal Gear Solid 3 To Be More "Normal"

It's been so long since I played 3, but I look back fondly on it - it's easily my favorite of the series. I want to say some of the systems were a little annoying and finicky, but also, it's a Kojima game, you don't play it for by the books game design!

I think Kojima is a really visionary creator, but I do think he can easily jump the shark. It's a thin line for him between brilliance and madness

Re: Best JRPGs Of All Time

I think it's tough putting games like FF and PS on a list like this. These games are hugely influential and deserve their place on a most important JRPGs or something, but I wouldn't recommend playing them today. In PS' case, I don't think you'd find anyone who thought the original is better than either 2 or 4 - I'm a 4 guy all the way.

As for the rest, obviously lots of good/great games. I think these lists are often largely dictated by personal experience and I had Sega systems, so any greatest JRPGs of all time list for me would have to include Grandia or Lunar, Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shining Force III.

I'd also be hard pressed to not throw a bone or two to modern JRPGs. I think Cosmic Star Heroine is an absolute classic and represents the genre at its best.

Re: Best Silent Hill Games - Every Silent Hill Game Ranked

RudeAnimat0r

I know I am in the extreme minority on liking Downpour, but it is a million times better than Homecoming. Homecoming is so generic and forgettable. Climax tried to make a Japanese horror game and the result was exactly as you would expect.

I think Downpour was a good shot at a Western interpretation of a Silent Hill game. The semi open world was great, the side quests were interesting and the combat was perfect for this type of game. I still feel like people wrote this game off without giving it a shake because it wasn't Team Silent and Konami stupidly marketed it with that infamous Korn song.

If you play Evil Within 2 you will see a lot of Downpour in that game. People enjoyed that game a lot because there were no expectations.

Re: We're Getting A New Shining Force Game, But Of Course There's A Catch

This looks surprisingly good. I'm excited they're using an existing game at least as inspiration, because I've really disliked the more heavily anime-inspired visuals of the series since the PS2. They really captured the charm of the Camelot-look in an almost Saturday morning cartoon spin. I'm definitely feeling it.

Of course I'm disappointed it's on mobile and we'll have to see what the monetization scheme is, but I'd rather hope it's enjoyable than write it off entirely. And I'm glad the IP isn't dead.

Re: Intellivision's Amico Is Shaping Up To Be The Most 'Nintendo' Non-Nintendo System Ever

I don't know what their expectations are for sales, but it's hard to see where the niche is for this device. Maybe it can be a success moving a few hundred thousand boxes but the price difference isn't so drastic that I see families buying one rather than a Switch. It needs to be $150, tops.

And the other thing is will it get talented Indies to make these local mp games? Will it just be a few ports of Towerfall, Overcooked, etc.?
