I was 11, in France, when the Super Famicom and those launching games made their way in an import gaming store not far away from where I was living, so I can relate to the nostalgia (the fetichism ?) of those times. Promising box arts, few blurry screenshots in magazines, mysterious japanese writings...I was fantasing games rather than playing them. And never played Actraiser even though I properly got a 50 Hz Super Nintendo during the fall of 1992 !
"perhaps the ease of hacking the console has made it a must-have purchase for retro gamers?" Maybe, but the 3ds has been hackable for years... And the Switch (at least the first series) is easily hackable too and its price doesn't reach those heights (or maybe yes, I didn't check). There must be another reason for those spikes...
I remember having talked to a deer and pushed a cupboard (found an item) in "Soul Blader". I don't remember anything of "Terranigma". Some games are like dreams...
@RetroGames I agree and understand your point of view. Imamura's work is subtle for sure. Maybe, back in the days, Nintendo chose to hire an american artist for a genuine "US comic look". Whatever, that cover will remain in memories.
How this cover made me fantasize when I was a child, along with the box of "Super Mario World", as I was staring at the shelves of an imported games shop in Paris ! I could only play F-Zero (the PAL version...) a few years later. F**k cancer ! F**k death ! Viva la vida !
It looks Sega Saturn (30 years old !) is the real nightmare of emulation. Not sure a modded Switch gets Saturn games to work. It seems that the recent re-release on Switch of a shoot'em up ("Cotton " ?) has opened a breach for Saturn emulation...
