@h3s Metal Slug 6's Stand Alone PS2 port is pretty good.
I do have a dreamcast but no Dreamshell to play the atomiswave games on.

@h3s 3's final level just keeps going.

4 isn't well regarded by most but I think it's a pretty balenced entry too and 5 did a lot of fun things adding a slide and some new enemies. 6 just felt like they ported it from the Neo to the Atomiswave not much about it that didn't seem like it could've been on the Neo geo. 7 ehh, Double X is decent I've been playing it on XBOX lately.

The Dreamcast can play an overclocked CD version of Metal Slug 2 through that Neo4all emulator.

If I'm going to be 100% honest my favorite Metal Slug is the original. Not X or 3, the original.

I almost bought an Evercade when I canceled my AES+ preorder. But

A) Those carts have the same problem the AES+ Carts have, that they're basically SD Cards and could lose data over time. Direct Sunlight is a deathknell.

B) Seems the whole Evercade model is based around FOMO and inflating the cart Value on the second hand market.

C) It's just running a modified Retroarch.

@ElkinFencer10 the Morph 4k is as good but doesn't do interlacing as well

The the 5x can connect to the 4k and they can work together.

I pre-ordered on Amazon and won't move my pre-order elsewhere. I've waited Decades for this opportunity but I also don't want to piss money away on this either.

I'm going to wait until I actually have the AES+ to actually buy any old carts off ebay it's still an investment and if they don't work I'll want to return them.

I'm getting the brook adapter I already have a heavy duty stick in mind to use with my AES+

Start looking at Ebay listings, some AES carts aren't too bad.

This is my last chance to own one. I'm preordering one when paid and I'm even looking at AES ebay listings. yeah some are stupid expensive but some Japanese carts aren't too bad. Samsho 2 and Fatal Fury Special.

I had a chance to buy a Neo Geo in 2002 but I was tricked into going on a trip to Florida. IN AUGUST when it's humid AF, with my cousins who endless argue, I almost got shot by a shady cab driver, the hotel was run down and shady, I think there was a body in the pool the night we checked in. No shuttle and there was over $500 I had to pay in unexpected expenses.

So yeah this is my retribution I CAN FINALLY get what was taken away and my cousin won't drag me to Florida this time. Mostly because they can't.

Day One purchase and I don't buy much on steam these days

I tend to just stick to one mame distro as my main one and then get newer ones for specific games. Rom sets change with versions. So if something works I'm just going to stick with that.

Evercade is for people just fed up with Modern gaming and want to collect and enjoy games again.

I don't have one but with the possibility of being unable to get a MISTer due to storage shortages this is appealing.

@Sketcz Is there no purer genre? Half my Physical Switch collection are Shmups. Actually so is Half my Physical PS4/PS5 collection.
