Re: The Best Mistake Nintendo Ever Made? Why 2DS Is The Perfect Embodiment Of Gunpei Yokoi's Core Principles

While I recognize the validity of the Yokoi approach, I don't think it's always the right approach.

If they strictly followed that principle we'd never have Switch 2. And tbh, I felt the 3D was the most appealing aspect of the 3DS hardware. I adored playing games in 3D. Obviously not everyone agrees, so a 2DS is a great alternative, but it only works as an alternative.

I, for one, am glad they're not still doing "lateral thinking" with unproven concepts while refusing to provide enough power to get 3rd party ports or for even their own games to run with stable framerates.

Don't get me wrong, I always enjoy Nintendo hardware, even when it doesn't land as intended, but Switch 2 is definitely the correct direction today.

Re: "I Still Think The Virtual Boy Was Probably Just Too Ahead Of Its Time" - Japanese Developers On Nintendo's Most Infamous Flop

It was ahead of its time, as 3DS proved.

Anyone with a modded 3DS can install Red Viper Virtual Boy emulator and enjoy the entire library in stereoscopic glasses-free 3D, adjusting the color from red to anything on the spectrum, which is an infinite number of color choices.

Thats the definitive Virtual Boy experience, imo. No visor or weird cramping position looking through the eyepiece. Just straight up 3D effect like other 3DS games. Why they never officially released them on that console is beyond me. But it makes so much sense, somebody took the time to actually develop an emulator that did just that, 3D effect and everything.

I'm still buying the VB from the NSO store, but I don't think anything will ever beat playing on RedViper emulator on 3DS.
