1. Finally finish a story/video on the 1982 PC game Executive Suite 2. Finally finish a story/video on the 1984 book Arcade by Robert Maze 3. Playthrough the entirety of the 1995 DOS game Stonekeep 4. Create a an Atari 2600 game with the PXE engine 5. Create a new Atari 7800 game in Atari 7800 Basic
At first I thought this was not a great idea, but after reading this, I think I'm on-board. It's really the first "Maker" console, and since it has C language SDK, is good next step for people who have been making games in the various "basic" languages.
My hope is that they announce a "Jaguar+" which is an the 2600+/7800+ hardware in the shape of Jaguar with modular cartridge adapter that will fit existing and new Jaguar games that can also be used with the existing 2600+/7800+ with a firmware update. Then also plans to so the same for Lynx, 8bit and 5200. This would make the plus platform a unifying system for old and new.
However, what I expect is just a few new 7800 games from Toaplan. Still cool though
While I love Nintendo, they did not invent video games nor do they have exclusive hold on the game industry. I'm from the USA, but my console progress went Atari 2600->Atari 800->Atari 7800->520ST->SMS->1040ST->Lynx->Genesis->386 PC DOS->PSX->PS2->GBA->Wii->DS->360->WIIU->3DS->PS4->Switch->PS5. I didn't play Nintendo games until some time in 2004, and while I'm now a big fan of Nintendo, I'm also a fan of the other formative games, developers and systems I experienced. I'd call Chris Crawford, Winston Douglas Wood, Dino Dini, Yu Suzuki, and Chris Sawyer my heroes before I'd name one Nintendo developer. There is not just one pathway. The Nintendo pathway is legit, but so are all the others.
So happy you someone has noticed the ST is 40 years old this year too. I'm also a "long-suffering" Atari ST fan from the USA. We are planning to have a "birthday party" in August, which is the month we believe it arrived here.

Re: Four Namco Classics Are Being Reissued On Cartridge For The Atari 2600+ & 7800+
Hmm. I wonder why they are not doing Namco's Pole Position II, which was the 7800 pack-in.
